Obviously the movies have gone from being pretty grounded to being absolutely nuts, but I can't help but feel that when you watch all of them in a row the transition feels more organic than if you've only ever seen 1, 3, 5, and 7 or something like that.

From four onwards the scale escalates per each and introduces plot elements that help to ramp up the madness in the next movie. Four was about taking down a drug cartel leader and re associating Dom and Brian as well as Letty's death. Five isn't a huge jump from that point as they are just taking down a corrupt businessman/police force while they try and evade the law (which they do successfully throughout the movie leading to the Rock calling on them in six). I do feel as though six jumped the gun with it's eighty mile long run way and superhero Dom, but really the transition isn't very drastic. Even within the movies they are quite self aware at how absurd their situations have become.

I honestly hope that nine is all about Dom, Letty, and Mia when they were younger. I know that isn't what the series is about but I think it'd be a really nice change to have a more personal and subdued story about Dom's father and the struggles that they faced early in life. Plus it could have like 16 year old car shenanigans where all of the action and precision that they have now is exchanged for the foolishness and bravery of teenagers.
