Internal ship politics is fun but ultimately it's just padding between the real plot events

It's only there to give us a look at the inner workings of a crew while the characters are developing and rising to power. When shit hits the fan, legendary pirates like Long John and Flint don't need to worry about keeping the crew happy like an ordinary shit tier captain because they have complete control of their men's hearts and minds. Do you really think someone like fucking blackbeard has to deal with the internal politics of his individual ships?

Of course not. The show is about the overarching fate of nassau and the legendary pirates who fought for it, not random ass individual pirates

I watched the first few episodes and so far it seems like the most shallow TV show I've seen in a while. Literally nothing going for it character or story-wise so it resorts to being "cool! pirates" and "cool! lesbians". Does it ever stop being shit? Or is it just one of those shows you turn your head off to watch? I REALLY like the setting
