Hey you, are you trying to be mean?

Well I wouldn't call it "scary" but it was an okay video.
I preferred the one where marilyn Manson was hanging out with that giant nigga from big fish.

I think you're just using jumpscares as scary, but thats just being startled. Horror is about atmosphere and eeriness. Whatever suits you is fine but my list of top horrors is never going to be jumpscare heavy.
>>
>>80194221
Just fucking no. It sucked, scary parts barely existed. The metaphors were impossibly heavy handed and even then they can barely follow through with them.

It went out of the way to explain the rules about the creature in very expressive detail, and then didn't follow through with them, the only consistent one being it can't be killed.

It fucking sucked. Scariest part is I can never get that time back.

I dunno, might be because my friends and I used to pretend we were on the run from invisible monsters when we were kids that I didn't find the movie unsettling or tense at all. It just felt like one long extreme version of that.

Also, the characters were all annoying and hard to care about.

Especially when nothing like that ever happened. Apparently the Warren's just wanted to make a quick buck but the family didn't agree to it and they never saw the Warren's again.

Then you see this scene in the movie. It makes it even more cringey than it already was.

Well, it took a little while for it to start up, since when I moved in nothing happened for a couple months, but then weird stuff would start to happen, like you would walk into the kitchen and all the cupboards would be open, or doors that you shut at night would be open when you woke up, like there was a door in my room that went into the basement, and some nights I would wake up to it wipe open despite me never touching it.

As it progressed things would become more intense, like I would wake up some nights, freezing, and hear a knock in the hallway leading to my room, as it slowly got closer and closer to my door until it stopped when it was right outside, or you would sometimes hear whispers when you were alone.

The biggest one was one night when I brought a girl I was seeing back to the house with me. Now, bear in mind the house was on the side of a mountain surrounded by woods, so there's no neighbors or any way to get there really. It was dark in the middle of winter so there was a few inches of snow on the ground, and nobody else was home. We pulled in, and things felt kinda weird, but I ignored it since I wanted to bang, and we started up, but right when I finished, like the SECOND I did, there was a scream down the hall from the other bedrooms, and what sounded like a little girl being chased by a man both came screaming through the hall, into the living room right next to my room, and into the kitchen and out the door, then, the doorknob of my bedroom door popped, and unlatched, and the door slowly swung open all the way, which it does not do if you leave it ajar.

Other shit happened, but that was the most significant. When I was packing up to move out at the end of the year, the man got really close to my ear and whispered "goodbye", to me. Only it wasn't really a whisper, it was like it was half being said to you and half in your head, I dunno how else to describe it.

>almost everyone goes home in my residence except for a couple of guys upstairs
>literally not talk to anyone for a week and a half besides occasional skype sex with gf
>be awake at around 4 am for first night
>hear frequent scratches on door
>periodic door knob rattling as if someone was forcing to go in my room
>silhouettes at corners of the hall whenever I go and take a shower
>hear constant thudding noises a couple of rooms near mine and finding out that no one was there the whole
>have family guy on blast every time I sleep just to forget about all the noises and creepy shit

knowing that my residence hall was once used to house soldiers during WWII before deployment made it even worse. ghosts are fucking real

I wouldn't mind horror movies to be more focused on just unsettling imagery and situations with no real context or backstory at this point. It'd be leagues better than the dreck they pull up regularly.

Most people claim they made the thing up because they couldn't afford the house they were living in. By the time they moved they were pretty far behind on the payments. A ghost story is just more interesting than being a deadbeat.

>place was built by my great-grandpa
>nobody ever died in it
>land is in the middle of fucking nowhere
>all family members kind of fucked off leaving me to live here alone, parents retired to go live off in Florida while I inherited the house
>dead of the night, hear some kind of muffled murmuring sound outside my door
>sounded like when you can hear the shape of speech when someone is talking but can't actually hear the words well enough to make out even syllables, like if someone was delivering a speech two rooms away
>grab handgun, room has a switch for the hallway light which I turn on before opening the door
>for a split second see two eyes at head level right in front of my door, like totally disembodied eyes that disappear after an instant once I see them
>fucking scream and fire a few rounds into the hallway
>sell the place and move out within the week

Whatever the fuck this shit is I don't think it's ghosts. I've always enjoyed spooking the shit out of myself but never encountered that kind of crap before. I know what I saw and the image of it is still burned into my mind, after six years I'm still really on edge from it.

>tell him it's probly nothing
>whole family over at his house including me
>we're screwin around and drinking in the living room
>suddenly we both get a weird feeling and stop talking
>youngest cousin walks out of his room (was watching TV in there)
>he goes up to my cousin and asks him who the weird people hanging from the ceiling are

This isn't even the best adaptation about the Enfield Hauntings. The one with Timothy Spall was better.

That aside, the whole thing was an embarassing fake. Voice throwing kids and taking photos whilst they were bouncing on the bed.

that's what happened to me too, We brought my grandfather's cremations into our house after he died and a bunch of shit started happening. He had this wheeled foot stool that we took and put in the living room, but it was so old the wheel couldn't moved and they were crusty as shit

One night im shitposting as usual, on this computer im posting on, and not 5 feet away from me the thing fucking books it from the middle of the room and into to the far wall. At first i though the cats ran into it, but then they come running to me from the other room and both look spooked as shit with their fur puffed out. I told my mom and she didn't believe me and thought i was trying to prank her.

She woke my up in the middle of my sleep that night, saying that she was in the kitchen doing the dishes and when she was walking back to her room the foot stool slammed fucking HARD into the wall next to her.

The night after i was sitting in her room with her watching TV and the fucking thing grabs her purse (which was seated firmly on the nightstand) and pulls it by the strap and throws it to the floor, and it was not a cat, we literally watched as an invisible force fucked with it for a minute before pulling it down.

I fucking had enough after that so i got the holy water and blessed every single fucking space in the house "father, son, and holy spirit" sort of blessing while tossing a shit ton of holy water on everything.

Whatever it was fucked off pretty quick after that and i haven't experienced anything after that.

Fucking ghost immigrants, you have to go back.

a Mixture of general apathy and poor timing.

It didn't really spook us cause my mother delt with hauntings in our house when i was a baby and had a priest bless the house and it all stopped. I guess because i've been used to spooky shit since a child and have watched horror movies and shit since i was 6 and didn't get freaked out i didn't care enough.

That, and we threw away the footstool after the first night so we weren't expecting it to act up again, the purse was just something that happened for like 30 seconds while we were watching stranger things.

Loved the scene towards the end of the movie, after the whole screwdriver stabbing, where Nikki walks in the empty theater. With the projections changing to different angles of the space and then the blue hallway in the back. This movie has such a great atmosphere.

Couldn't find it posted on youtube, I might go ahead and screencap what I'm referring to.

Movies are in general not scary, because the low framerate is constantly reminding you that they are not real. They can only be philosophically scary and I have only seen two such movies:

You're 100% on the It Follows part, but the thing to take away from it is that you shouldn't waste your life being scared of it. That's why Paul and Jay are walking down the street hand in hand at the end; not looking back to see if they're being followed.

Nice trips.

It's still pretty scary to think about. For instance, Insidious' afterlife involves you perhaps reliving the trauma of your life, of your death, wandering around unable to feel the sun on your face, or the simple joys, for eternity. There's a line in one of the movies that was pretty poignant considering Rose Byrne's character from the first film was a depressed housewife:

>You are a miserable, ungrateful bitch. You have no idea how much you've wasted your life being afraid of the dead, because pretty soon, you're going to be one of them. Then, when I take you to my home in the dark, you'll realize how happy you should've been for your brief, little moment in the sun.
