I was obsessed with the book in 2004. Movie is pure shit and I never even read the last part.

The only thing I remember being cool about this series, as books anyway, was the way the magic worked during a big battle where the sorcerer's kept draining each others stamina and they had to balance how they used it so behind the scenes of the swordfighting there was this mental magical seesaw that kept swinging back and forth

I muscled through the 2nd book, but when he went to train with the crippled elf dude, it was so much like Yoda/Dagobah, it fucking pissed me off and I gave up.

I really liked the books, even if they're not that good. They were fun reads.

I read these books twice and it's physically hurting me trying to remember any details at all. I remember there was a butcher who was an asshole who they rescued in the third book. Eragon had an edgelord partner for awhile who was his brother or something? There was an old lady and a cat and some blatant ringwraith ripoffs. I remember the brother sailing past a whirpool and the following battle with some bald twins or something. I think the elves got naked once.

The last book in general is a complete blur.

I loved the books as a kid/teenager. I knew it was a gigantic Star Wars meets LOTR fanfic bordering on plagiarism but it was still cool as hell back then. Seeing that movie in theaters was the angriest I've ever been at a piece of entertainment. They skipped and changed so much and toned it down for a PG rating.

I read the final book as an adult and struggled through it. That final battle made me so mad.

Musta read the 1st and second book at least 4 times over. Maybe the series was trash but yeah I liked it as a teen. At least the movie was "so bad it's funny" tier, gave some good laughs.

I actually read LotR before I read the first two books. I liked them because they were geared way more towards my age-range, but I recognized the depth and mastery of LotR, so it kind of cheapened the experience. Never got around to the other books in the series.

This series did magic way better than any other fantasy series. There were actual rules and limits involved with magic that made sense.

Eragon's story is essentially the same as Star Wars up until the second half of the third book, the fact that they couldn't even get that right just shows how little they cared about it and how it was just a paycheck.

If I had complete control, I would just follow the story of the book and spend more time building the relationship between Eragon and Saphira.

I'd cast Max Thieriot as Eragon and have Zoe Saldana voice Saphira. Jeremy Irons was perfect casting for Brom so if we could get him to come back I would do that. Mads Mikkelsen could play Durza, Michael Shannon could play Galbatorix and Arya could be played by Jemima Kirke.

I'd try to keep the movie similar in tone to the original Lord of the Rings trilogy and hopefully obtain a better budget for some decent action scenes.
