Some of the monster of the week episodes are great but the overall lore is shit and the episodes that focus on it are irritating. Also Scully is hot af so you might want to watch it for some 90's redhead kino

first 5-6 seasons are alright, when mulder leaves the show goes down hill

Yes. There are a few outright bad episodes but even then Mulder and Scully are enjoyable. Also, the mythology plot gets incredibly muddled and never has a satisfactory conclusion, but all the buildup to it is really great.

I'd even continue watching the later seasons where Mulder is absent and replaced by the T-1000. It's definitely not as good without Mulder but still very watchable.

It holds up. Some of the earlier seasons have some goofy looking shit but still good. "Ice" in the first season is a greatest episode that pays homage to The Thing. One of my faves.

I'd say watch 1-7. 8 and 9 are mediocre. 10 is good and you don't need to "finish" the show to watch.
