Hello?
Engineering, full thrust, were resurrecting a Star Trek thread.
>>80169499
Wrong. DS9 was pretty clear about how inferior Bajorans are to the Cardassian ubermensch.
I really wish they injected a lot of money into a new Star Trek TV series, produced by talented people with the ability to make a fun, compelling and entertaining space morality play. You know, fans of the show who understand why people remember episodes like Measure of a Man, Best of Both World and Duet, and are able to refresh the franchise in interesting, innovative ways that reflect the anxieties of the 21st century and beyond.
How CBS thinks Discovery is going to be anything other than a total failure is beyond me.
We should find all the trek actresses from the various shows and post what they currently look like to see how badly that milk aged.
>>80171875

It's just a way to keep production costs down.
>>80173189
"No"
>>80172073
>>80171875
Evolution of a shows style is not necessarily a bad thing.
For example, TOS is very much a product of the "Spaceman Sam fights the Alligator men from Venus" school of sci-fi, whereas TNG (when it got good) slowed down a lot more and became more cerebral. Picard certainly punched a few Ayy Lmaos and it's not to say that TOS was dumb and not cerebral at all, but it was different from TOS because it was from a different time.
I'm still pretty pessimistic about it all, but the style of the show changing to better represent the time it was made is not NECESSARILY a bad thing.

>Captains log supplemental.. Our own Chief Security Officer, Lt. Yar has been obducted by an alien race that appears to have similar appearances to that of negroes. They seem to be under the illusion that they was kangs and queens 'n' shiet. Number One and i are under the impression that the reasoning behind Lt. Yar's obductence, is for this feral alien race to use her as a breeding vessel for interalien racemixing

I hate that scene from Encounter at Fartpoint where they meet up with Q who is masquerading as a US Marine
Picard seems so preoccupied with his uniform and brings it up twice even though those season 1 unis were pretty ridiculous looking themselves
