It's a fantasy series. The joy comes from experiencing the world and the narrative journey through it. Single events can't take that away from you.

I'm not even invested anymore. There was a ton of shit last season that was obviously given to them by GRRM (because original shit they've done in the past was absolutely horrid and made 0 sense), but it didn't have the necessary build-up or detail to feel satisfying (like the White Walker origin reveal). No matter what happens, none of it will feel good. Even less so with them giving only 7 episodes to each season. It's the reverse Meereenese Knot.

We can't blame anyone for their actions as it's all predetermined to do so within the scope of the story. Tragedy it's gimped as it'd be unavoidable, no one is truly evil; rendering story arcs pointless

It removes the illusion of storytelling and reminds you that these aren't believable people but puppets acting according to the flat circle of time

If their actions are predetermined, they have no choice in them so there is no precedent for calling them evil as their actions are a result of the set course of time, not their choice

I expect the show quality to dip even more than it already has. So I'm going into this with fairly low expectations.

I know that my normie friends will not be ready for this. It should be an interesting couple of years.
