It's amazing. Inspired me to become a Japanese film director.
What is your favourite Kurosawa?

sobbing like a bitch throughout the entire movie
when he was on the swing, it took all of my strength not to start wailing
devastating. what every maudlin, feel-good, inspirational movie tries to do, but Ikiru actually does it.

The funeral bit was amazing
>le depressed jiisan worked too hard and didn't raise his kids properly
deserved it

Favorite Kurosawa
What was up with the girl not showing up to the funeral

it's one of the most motivational films ever. No whining, no excuses, no fingerpointing... just dedication and patience gets the shit done. Fucking cried at the end.
Still I like The Lower Depths even better.

No. It was boring and its lesson predictable from the start. The killing-blow is the endless funeral scenes where you already know what is going to be said and is going to happen the day after, but it goes on and on and on.
