Why would you make this thread, isn't this in most cases basically asking for the films in question to be spoiled big time?
The Room
Any versions ofRomeo & Juliet, Anna Karenina, Cleopatra, Othello
what was the movie where some guy and his son were in the car and they killed themselves and then the police or rescuers came about 2 minutes later? that fucking movie really left a shitty feeling in me
>>80112665
that was the adaptation of stephen king's The Mist, which God help me I really loved
also somewhat ashamed to have enjoyed much of King's writing, including the collection of short stories The Mist was published in

97 version is best film version I've seen, haven't seen them all or the russian versions.
Tolstoy's too thicc for movies though, 77 mini series is said to be best.

No beast so fierce but knows some touch of pity.
Do you mean "the" protagonist or "a" protagonist?
Les Miserables, kind of.

He didn't exactly kill himself, just happened to die as a result of what happened. Great movie though, very underrated 80s action movie.
Leaving Las Vegas

>also somewhat ashamed to have enjoyed much of King's writing
Why? He's the absolute best storyteller working today, and time may prove him to be the best ever. Why some people let what a bunch of idiots think about your tastes (particularly dumb kids from 4clams or reddit) who have likely never even picked up ANY book, much less the ones they criticize remains a mystery to me.
I wish King would shut the fuck up about politics. I wish Martin would finish Winds instead of whining like a bitch about Trump. I wish DeNiro would go back to making shit like Goodfellas and Heat instead of shitting on Trump and making direct to Redbox horseshit, but it doesn't fucking matter.
King remains a magnificent writer. He's fallen off a bit, but he hasn't lost it completely. Revival was easily one of the best books he's ever written (at least in the top ten) and also proved that he could write endings, something that non-writers always bitch about concerning his novels.

Back to the matter at hand, Leaving Las Vegas with Nic Cage is basically about a guy who goes to Vegas with the intention of drinking himself to death. Essential depression-core, if that's what you're into.
There's also some Kevin Spacey failed Oscar-bait called The Life of David Gale. I won't go into detail because I don't want to spoil it in the off-chance you watch it OP, but I think this might be right up your alley.
There's also some made for TV movie starring Dabney Coleman (r.i.p.) where he plays a cop that finds out he has a terminal illness and tries to get killed at work so his senpai can real the benefits.
On an unrelated note, I'm not really sure why I left some long-ass reply that likely won't garner a single (You) to a bunch of strangers.
Oldboy is another one, OP.
It's a wonderful life.

Was there an alternate ending or a different predator?
I could have sworn the ending of one was a bunch of predators show up and the main guy activates one of their bombs and blows everyone up, but maybe I am thinking of something completely different that isn't Independence Day.
