I haven't seen Terminator, but T2 is a flawless action movie in my opinion.
I never cared for Titanic or Avatar much (Avatar left me unimpressed as a child but I want to get around to watch it again) and True Lies is an alright flick, but I think JC as a genius only for this.

I bought the T2 VHS at a dollar general back in like 2001. I paid 8$ for it.

Watched it like 20 times and then traded it to a friend for a SNES cartridge.
Never got around to watching the original

Terminator 1 is definitive 80-ies kino.
More of a horror than an action movie.

Terminator 2 is definitive 90-ies kino.
Action, different atmosphere, different taste.

If anyone would ask me how 80-ies films differ from 90-ies films, I'd offer Terminator as one of the best examples to observe.

T2 holds up better against time, and is more iconic for a lot of reasons. It is, maybe, one of the best action-sci fi movie of all time. Maybe even one of the best action movie, period.
T1 is a very good representative of the action-horror stuff of the eighties, but it's not as iconic as T2 in its own genre. The sci-fi made T1 a very inspiring movie, not the horror aspects.
T2 basically took all the best story and development aspects of T1 and refined it into a much more solid movie (of course, new cgi tech and a much bigger budget helped achieve that)

I personally enjoyed T1 as a story much better than T2. However, T2 is one of the best action movies of all time. Thought the romance story was 8/10
