Animated mediums allow more to be done on a lower budget, and more artistic freedom.

Any Hollywood production will be such big-budget that politics and accountants will inevitably have a big influence i.e. make sure you cast a big name, we need the shekel draw, don't care if she's suitable or not.

the essential thing people enjoy about anime is that it's not reality... so I don't understand what people expect from a live action movie, because it's almost guaranteed that it will not convey the same feel
