I liked it, but what the hell was the point of it? What did it mean thematically?

>Child soldiers are bad lmao
>experimentation is bad lmao
>even when you're old you don't give up cos the world has broken you down lmao

I did like the farm scenes and Charles' seizures though
>>
it doesnt have to mean anything you fucking pleb. not all movies need to have a deep political message.
>>
>>80052245
>but what the hell was the point of it? What did it mean thematically?

Family is the basis of a human being. Logan was too old, hundreds of years old. he had forgotten what it was like to be a family, and had become dehumanized.

Also, that a family doesnt mean your wife and child. It means those that love you, and stick with you.

Xavier was the only one who knew what family really meant, and he knew that Logan and himself were dying, so they had to save X-23 from becoming another Logan, even if it meant both of their lives. He wanted to give her a family.
>>
>>80053686

Political? Sure it doesn't, and I probably shouldn't have brought it up.

It's real serious though so you can be damn sure there's some emotional message, whatever it is
>>
>>80053746
>He wanted to give her a family.

Or reunite her with the only family she knew. I like rest of your point though
>>
>>80053686
Why are they making this movie if it doesnt have a deeper meaning ?
>>
Another thematic point was hope - Xavier and the boat, X23 and Eden.
>>
Why are we still here?
Just to suffer?
>>
>>80052245
I was surprised it ended before the loli got to eden but I liked that it did.
>>
It was a character exploration you fucking lump.
The theme was learning to forgive yourself.
>>
So, will x23 die like his father.

also
>cross to X at the ending
why
>>
>>80053988
Because mutants werent a part of God's plan.
>>
>>80053988
>weapon/project X - Wolverine
>X-23 - Laura
>>
>>80053988

ITT:Movies women will never understand
>>
>>80052245

Holy fuck. How dense is this board where an action movie that spells out the importance of hope and family is too intellectual for OP?

And especially he uses shit memes to prove how inept he is at understanding a basic plot theme. I bet OP is the type of person who watched 3-4 videos that broke down the ending of Interstellar.
>>
>there are evil mutants that kills people
>there are good mutants that still kill people (like proff x and his seizures)
>even small children are deadly, it is like kids carrying guns
and this guy makes a virus or something that sterilize mutant. and people calls him bad gut
>>
the theme was how much money can we make from one last hugh xman movie
>>
>>80052245
It's about Logan coming to terms with his life at the end of it. Him killing his younger self? Him accepting the things he's done, and finally experiencing having a family?
>>
>>80052245

the legitimate reasons to fear at least some mutants was NEVER adressed. E.g. what do you do against a teleporter? those could easily kidnap a president for example
>>
>>80052245
>>Child soldiers are bad lmao
>>experimentation is bad lmao
>>even when you're old you don't give up cos the world has broken you down lmao

what's wrong with any of this you fucking autist?
>>
>>80054263
Zander Rice did nothing wrong. He wasn't even that mad about Logan killing his father
>>
So, I have a chance to see this OR see John Wick 2, thanks to a cheap ticket. Which one do I see?
>>
Growing old, dealing with death etc
>>
>>80054595

I loved them both, but they're really not comparable. If you want a character and story driven movie with some neat, well done but relatively low key action scenes then Logan. John Wick 2 is if you want a nigga shooting people and fighting people with just the right amount of cheese.
>>
>>80054595

This is better acted, but JW is more entertaining
>>
>>80054595
See this. John Wick two is a good action movie, but I honestly see this as one of the best of the year.
>>
>>80052245
>I liked it, but what the hell was the point of it?

Everyone gets old and dies. It's also about making your death mean something.

Logan is about aging and mortality, you pleb. It's literally based on Old Man Logan.
>>
>>80054371
Same.
>get to Eden with Charles and X23
>it is a secret base where mutants are hiding, led by Magneto
>"Charles, I told you people are shit but you trusted them. Look at us now."
>sad Charles
>base is attacked and both die
>>
>>80054595
Neither.
>>
>>80052245
>Corporations are inhuman and amoral.
>Family is important
>Having hope is essential for going on
>Welcome to Trump's republic of Hitlerstan
>>
>>80054371

It worked because they kept it focused on the story and the characters. One of the weaknesses of X-Men movies has always been the large ensemble which has meant there hasn't been enough focus on the characters.
>>
>>80052245
It was a story about a man realizing and coming to terms with having a daughter, and coming to terms with his old age.

This isn't the MCU. There doesn't have to be a hamfisted political message in everything.
>>
>>80053988

They weren't training them to be soldiers, they were using them as guinea pigs on how to ultimately make stronger mutants like X-24, once they got the necessary data the kids were to be processed and killed.

Also, you seem really obsessed with the fat kid for some reason.

They needed a fat kid to do the stunt work of falling down on his face. Normal kids might get hurt, a fat kid will just roll like the bottom of an "O".
>>
I loved this movie, but all the scenes with the kids just irked me. The stupid CGI ice breath, the stupid flying pin needles, etc. It just reeked of Xmen 3. I was hoping this would've just been claws vs. guns the entire time, but they just had to have stupid superpowers. And I couldn't help but giggle every time that fat little nig was on screen, especially when he was running.

Other than that, solid 8/10 would watch again.

But they were creating them to be weapons. It just so happened they were also researching X-24 and when they realized the children wouldn't make good solider they nixed the research. If they could have had both they would have. It's not like the kids were solely a means to get to X-24.

Nothing, it's fucking crybait. It doesn't want you to make something or to make you think, it only wants you to post shit on Kikebook like "DURR LOGAN IS SO SAD I CRYED EVERYTIM D,:"
I can't believe 4chan fell for this crap, it’s really just another exercise in violence. Blood Father handled a similar father-daughter plot better, but this penchant for on-screen violence is part of contemporary culture’s ugliness.

Regardless, most likely not. Laura only has the adamantium in her hands and feet due to the claws, so she can probably live forever. Or at least far longer than Logan did.

They couldn't have been actively putting the adamantium into her while she was sitting there, they would have had to put her in the tank. That scene where they were cutting into her was reattaching her claws after pulling them out to coat them in adamantium.
>>
>>80057008
You may be right, but keep in mind what they did to Logan was like 60 years earlier. So there could have been advancements in the procedure.

The movie had almost the same theme like the wrestler, trying to fit in a world where they don't need you, except this world also hates you

Personal opinion, but I think the movie deals heavily with the concept of legacy.
>The last Hugh Jackman Wolverine movie.
>All the other X-Men are gone.
>Logan's healing factor is weakening, his history is literally catching up with him.
>The arrival of X-23; made from his own genetic material.
>The X-Men comics being a romanticized/inaccurate depiction of his past.
>"Killing being a brand."
>X-24, forcing to confront himself, a representation of his savage nature and killer instinct.
>The theme of family, the people you influence and carry on when you're gone, providing the best for them.
>The new mutants, carrying on the mutant gene and legacy of those who came before.
My two cents.

For a movie that's so steeped in atmosphere and tonally fitting locales, the twilight-tier forest setting at the end was just such a mediocre way to end it. No cinematic flare in it at all, just felt plain and cheap, especially with the generic soldiers and humvees there.
Still, the calm parts were really good and it was a worthy and dignified way to end Jackman's Wolverine, just wish they'd reallly worked on the story more. As it stands the japan movie still is my favorite.

For such a serious, "slow" and grounded movie I kind of expected some more depth in the story and with the worldbuilding. For instance we didn't really see a legitimate argument against mutants and who benefitted from it. I was thinking when Logan and the rest were taken in by the farmers that the way they chose to do it was the very obvious and clichéd way, where as the more interesting way would have been for the family to have a stigma against the mutants (like when Logan breaks that shotgun in half was a point where he could have reacted) and have the actual family themselves tip the weapon x guys off on their location. I want to like the movie but the worldbuilding and story really wasn't as strong as it could have been.

I asked this after Burn After Reading and Hail, Caesar and yet those films were critically acclaimed so I'm left to wonder if a film actually needs a point or justification for being made (outside of money) to be good

Logan and Professor X die.

Jackman and Stewart will also die.

If you know that Logan is based on Old Man Logan, even just the title, you should have been expecting what you saw.
>>

>>

>>
>>80062741
Someone said it in another Logan thread but there's a reason there isn't a post credit scene. It would completely clash with the end of the movie. Hence they put it at the beginning of the movie.

Those same people that grumbled can't grasp this and they're the same people that laughed when Logan went batshit with the shovel on the truck.
>>

No, I forgot that Origins existed, but Logan is the only good one out of the three that there is, ignoring DOFP

That scene really hit me. He remined me of my great grandmother who died of alzheimers. One time we went to visit her and get her laundry, she claimed she had already done it by herself. This.
Old Man Logan comic is shit and made no fucking sense.
>>
>>80055364
I think it was pretty obvious, it's a hack job of "old man Logan" other characters take on the stories that Logan would have been the protagonist of, like the farm family. so the professors involuntary action was what pushed them to isolation. terribly sad.
>>
>>80062991
Yeah, the only thing they took from Old Man Logan was Logan's appearance
>>
>>80062382

Wolverine has regeneration (like Deadpool, another Weapon X subject) but in Logan, Wolverine's been around for maybe hundreds of years, and he's just getting old. Plus he says the adamantium in him is poisoning him.

What's interesting, comparing BvS to Logan, is that Wolverine has known regeneration powers, and being impaled kills him. Meanwhile, Superman has no known regeneration powers that I know of, except from Earth's Sun, which is hard to see buried 6 feet under, and Superman comes back to life.

>Not much to say about Logan, the latest in Marvel Comics’ X-Men franchise, this one pushing Wolverine/Logan (Hugh Jackman) toward retirement. It’s really just another exercise in violence featuring Logan’s adamantium claws — a trait shared with teenage Laura (Dafne Keen) in overblown action scenes that recall the sickeningly sadistic kiddie assassin movie Kick-Ass. Mel Gibson’s Blood Father handled a similar father-daughter plot better, but this penchant for on-screen violence is part of contemporary culture’s ugliness.

This might be hard for you to understand but someone who wasn't as obtuse as you realized you don't put a funny scene like the Deadpool 2 teaser after a somber and depressing ending. It's a Marvel movie, they have post credit scenes but in this case it makes sense to put it at the beginning as to not detract from the finale of the movie.

It will not be seen at the start of the Logan movie on disc/on TV, etc.
>>

Just because you have adamantium claws, doesn't mean you know how to use them.

The most laughable thing about the movie is this tiny kid taking down grown men 3x her size.
>>
Logan has no purpose in life now THAT Xavier is dead, and they've been making a big deal out of this silver bullet he's been saving for himself. I was expecting him to have to make that shot, use the one thing he has to escape this world now that he has nothing left here on himself or evil wolverine to save the girl. Instead of using it on himself now that Xavier is dead, he would have to live on to protect her.

tl;dr The choice to use the silver bullet should've been Logan's, not the girl.

There are cases of man killing bear with just knife. Ka-bar knifes got their name from story about their knife killing bear. Think about that. Bear weight between 3-7 time more than a man. Bear have way more strong muscles even at same size, bones are also more dense. Bears can bench press the weight of small car with ease. How can a man kill a bear with knife? Now think about genetically engineered human with 6 razor sharp understandable knifes embedded the arms and feet. Also said human have some combat training and also said human is stronger and faster than normal human. Also it regenerate mag dump into the body for like 5 second tops. To be fair I was always disappointed how less deadly wolverine was than his skills suggest. Even X24 was lackluster. Prime wolverine must be absolute killing machine, imagine unkillable jaguar on crack.
