It's a shame that The Walking Dead is not about Rick going on a journey to find his wife and children for the entirety of the show's duration.

The show went to shit when Rick reunited with Lori and Carl in S1E03. Apparently, Darabont actually hated Kirkman for insisting that they both reunite early on and follow the comics.

Darabont wanted TWD to be an adventure with similarities to The Manifest Destiny, but Kirkman wanted to maintain the "Humans are tel realz monsters!!!11" shit from the comics, and that was one of the reasons why Darabont was fired.

Ironically, The Walking Dead games also started going to shit once the writers left for Firewatch and Telltale gave more control to Kirkman for S2 and S3.

Kirkman is literally The Walking Dead, It's like poetry.
