I've never enjoyed a single one, bumping for curiousity

Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2. Nothing will ever top them, I think.

I got some old commentaries that the directors did for laserdiscs off MySpleen. There was some really great stuff on there, Bowie doing commentary for The Man Who Fell To Earth, John Waters commentary on his movies, stuff from directors who don't do commentaries anymore or died. Look them up if you get a chance on there. I just downloaded the movies and muxed the commentary audio track onto the file with yamb and they sound and look great playing on my plex server.

Alien has a good commentary
The LotR commentaries are really a fascinating insight into making those.
But the best one is Sum of All Fears. It's all the director going "we could have done this scene better" and Tom Clancy's going "that's bullshit. They don't really have that."

The French commentary for the 400 Blows is very emotional.
The film is basically an autobiography of Truffaut's childhood, and they invited his real childhood friend that inspired Antoine's friend.
At one point he talks about how they wrote the book, and Truffaut wanted his friend to give him all the letters they used to write eachother when they were 15, but his friend didn't want to give him those yet (they were in their late 20s when the movie came out) said he lost them, and he basically says he wanted to give them to Truffaut when they would both be very old and they would just be happy to read them instead of trying to work them in a movie or something, however Truffaut died before he was 50 and he wished he had gave him those letters. I think that's the most interesting commentary or making off part i've seen of a movie
