Because he's a terrible actor who plays his roles in the same way. Watching him in Departed and Shutter Island was like watching him play the same person with minor variations. Same for Wolf in Wall Street. In Revenant he got an Oscar for screaming half the movie, I think even he knows he got that out of pity or publicity pressure [the shitty barrage of LE WHEN DOES LEO GET AN OSCAR XDDDD memes which only served to push an entire media machine in promoting him for an Oscar award no matter what].

Both him and Brad Pitt started out as pretty boys, but I'm 100% certain Pitt turned out to be a way better actor, with more range and who doesn't make you feel he plays himself in every movie.
