Why did Ripley want Jonesy back so bad that she risked her life to find him? There has to be a reason other than pure love. I mean what kind of space trucker looks for a fucking cat when they are aboard a spaceship in the middle of fucking nowhere hunted by something they could not even imagine in the worst of their nightmares.
Is Jonesy more powerful than we think? Could he really be the key to all of this? I'd argue against it because of him making appearance in later movies but it could have been that Jonesy the Cat was transformed into a Xenomorph empress or maybe Jonesy contained some sort of futuristic chip you know the ones they give dogs and cats nowadays to find them, yes something like that but containing valuable informations on locations of planets, how to controll the ship etc

Or perhaps Jonesy was used as symbolism for true innocense in amidst the darkness that is Alien. the cat could represent us as a child watching this film and not really know what is going on and not untill a later age that we discover all the sexual references made in Alien, Then again it could be representing the crew aswell and all of them just wandering around knowing that this might be the end but give into Nihilism and just accept the fact that anything can and will happen so they just wander around aimlessly in the world, now I can connect these two and break the fourth wall by saying that the cat reperesents all of humanity, trully not knowing what do in this eternal darkness that is the Galaxy

I don't think the cat has his own spacesuit so he couldnt catch the facehugger between the moment when he pops out of the egg and the moment it lands on the dude's face, and after that it's permanently stuck there until it dies.

The cat however could have probably killed the chestburster but Ash was protecting it
