What does /tv/ think of Jane Austen films?
>>80007752
I secretly enjoy them
>>80007752
Shit. I just don't find 'muh rich women struggles' compelling at all. I mean some of her stuff is well written, but the stories she tell just don't connect with me. Donald Sutherland is based as Mr. Bennet in the Knightley version of P&P tho.

Jane Austen is one of the most brilliant writers who has ever lived
But nobody ever actually cares to read/understand her novels so whateva

I've been meaning to watch this. Do Stilman's films continue to decline in quality after Metropolitan?
>>80007752
Ang Lee did a good one.
>>80007871
yeah but wtf compelled Jane Austen to write Hulk?
>>80007911
Money?
>>80007911
i dont know why i kek'd so hard
>>80007858
Yes, but I think this was better than Last Days of Disco. At least it was short.

I'm not a fan of "comedies of manners". Making fun of rich people was pretty revolutionary in that time period but now it just seems like sour grapes, especially when Whit Stillman is himself a wealthy man.

>Jane Austen
talent less hack of the highest caliber

Generally enjoy them, love regency fashion.
