I'm no expert but I think our brains can tell the difference, even in micro movements. CGI models move the way the animators want them to move, whereas real things move the way the laws of physics want them to move. Our brains have evolved to understand the latter and we experience it every day in our lives. Sort of like the same way there's just something not right about CGI faces (ala Rogue One).

Just my theory anyway.

Cuz you can't mo-cap an alien silhouette as cleanly as regular bipedal human. It's never going to look like anything in real life because its movements are an amalgamation of 2-3 different forms of locomotion.
