You might not like it. You might disagree, but whatever you do, you can't change this fact. This was a masterpiece, and I'm glad I lived in this timeline to see this.

Because during the production it was a common theme for the crew to actually piss on things related to the movie. They pissed on everything. They pissed on the costumes, they pissed on the sets, they pissed on the actual film, they pissed on the steps of government until the government gave them a tax break, they pissed absolutely everywhere. It got to the point where anyone that joined the crew on the first day they had to find something to piss on and it was also tradition for them to get a cup of piss poured over there head. A few people tried to complain to the employment courts about the practice but because they were on contracts which were based on what in New Zealand is called 'events of national significance' they had no legal basis to lodge any formal complaints. I also went in their offices one time and saw a wall of photographs of people pissing on shit. And Elijah Wood famously went on Letterman and admitted to pissing on a famous Wellington sculpture.

Nowadays shitty romantic comedies cost the studios between fifty-eighty millions, so yeah LotR's budget was modest even with todays standard.
They made three movies - shot entirelly on film - over three hours of content with the budget of an Avengers flick.
Pretty damn impressive.
