>>
>>79955895
The flop is when the first three community cards are revealed, the turn is when the fourth is revealed and the 'river' is when the fifth is revealed, so pre-flop is just when people are checking, folding or raising based on their hole cards.

You have two forced bets, the big and small blinds (with the big blind being the minimum) that rotate along the table clockwise along with the dealer position, so the turn of play with fairly progress around the table.

Not really. The poker tv shows in the US were all sponsored by pokerstars/full tilt to bring in new players. But ever since those sites were banned here, they don't have a reason to do the shows anymore.

My understanding is that people usually just get caught by fucking up themselves. Like they'll post on a social media account showing that they're in the US on the same day they're playing. The sites have security teams that will go to lengths to check these things if they suspect something.

Yes, there are players who do this. Keep in mind that will ask for proof of residency in whatever country you're claiming to be from, and that is hard to fake.

>>
>>79961758
Tony G is actually pretty based.
His table talk is just an act he puts on for low level pros or nits to throw them off their game.
He especially likes to do this to internet pros that aren't used to the pressure of a live game.
Away from the table he actually gives a sizable chunk of his winnings to charity. Even Daniel Negreanu commented on this (can't remember which show)
>>
>>79966225

Yep, it's though, unless you are a sicko like OTB who destroyed everyone at every stake lol

I would suggest to you to give a shot at low stakes MTTs, people from cashgames usually play them good since you have a better understanding at real poker that mtt donks. But on the other hand, you will have even more variance, that's for sure.

you divide the number by 100, so 50nl the blinds are 25c and 50c. In live it's different, they usually just say 1/2, but that's cos you can often buy in much deeper stacks.
>>

And he got that in his first placement, with much prior knowledge of the game? I just find it interesting that poker skills would transfer to Hearthstone like that
>>
I feel like whenever i see poker and there's a few guys wearing huge black glasses and a hoodie up or a hat i just laugh because to me it's almost like a statement of how bad they are at a poker face.

Like, they're so fucking awful at this game they have to try wear a disguise while most people can play just fine looking normal.

How can you not understand it? Having cards that look the same is good. Cards with higher numbers beat cards with lower numbers. You can exchange some cards you don't like and then bet based on how much you think you'll win.

That's pretty much it.

Jesus Grandpa, its time to get with the times

TCG game skills are very transferable.

Many top-level MTG guys play Poker professionally, because MTG is far harder.

He's just talking standard 5 card poker. It is the original poker game, before holdem really became the default. I can't believe anyone still plays it, holdem is so much better its pretty baffling.

I wish I understood Poker better to be entertained by shit like this.

I still don't know what the fuck checking and calling is.

Check = no one has bet and you also choose to not bet
Call = someone has bet and you match their bet

I can barely remember how to play regular poker, which I used to when I was a kid, and I can't play texas check 'em at all, but I still just watched 40 minutes of poker on youtube and enjoyed it.

What's the poker game where "knock" called? I vaguely remember playing that when I was little sometimes too

I discovered Poke kino few years ago and watched all High Stake Poker/Poker After Dark/WSOP transmissions I could find.

This shit is hilarious and brilliant at the same time. Although that's partially because they don't show those 1000 boring hands that happened in between.

Also I wished pic related was more active in recent years.

He never left. Thing is Poker earnings are highly overrated and come with selling your persona more than anything. The reason why Hellmuth is so respected even though he plays like a donkey on TV is because he is one of few players that actually made a 20 million dollars profit after counting all loans, debts etc. All those 100k/1 million buy-ins you keep hearing about actually belong to shady people who borrow cash to players as "sponsors".

Durr went bankrupt after this whole Tilt poker fiasco and he owed money to loads of people which lead to rumors that he is actually chained in some mafia's casino while being forced to make them money. That's just a rumor though.

Nowadays majority of them including Durr moved to Asia and continue playing against filthy rich businessmen that are fine with throwing away millions. Plus they aren't getting butt fucked by taxes.

He was basically giving a player advice and pointing out Negreanu's tendencies, and saying anything that can affect the current hand that is taking place as a bystanded is off limits and just a shitty thing to do as a poker player. Could have ruined the hand for one of the players when he wasn't even participating in it

online poker is over-saturated with microstakes "geniuses" who just grind 10 tables at once in the most robotic and by the numbers fashion, and if you try to learn poker online this is pretty much the way you will be taught. which is fine for grinding a lot of hands and getting to know the odds / values, and making a very small investment last a long time or even a small profit.

the thing is, its boring as all fuck and that style doesn't translate very well to no/high-stakes live tournament play, since there shouldn't usually be any cheap flops. unless everyone sucks. then your cards don't even matter, just play position.

so both are useful, online for grinding the math, and reading theory / live play for playing position/people. live is just a lot more fun. i don't know if its possible in US outside of vegas, but here you have small local stuff in pubs etc.

also its still gambling, sometimes you are shit out of luck and lose all night, no matter what.
>>
>>79955328
Eh, his tell early on was prettt awful but I don't blame him for checking the river. The board is paired, any bet and I reckon the other guy would be out of there.
>>
>>79966225
just fold and play the 2% of hands

once you get a good hand, crush someone

then fold shit hands until you can crush someone again

then you fold and then you bluff because people will think you only play with good cards

hard way to make an easy living

you have to put in a ridiculous amount of study and play to move up the ladder, and variance is brutal

worse odds than opening up a small business i'm sure. like 98% of people are just donating money to the best players

If you wanna play NLHE? It'll take longer than a college degree for you to turn a noteworthy profit.

If you wanna play PLO8? You can start making money tomorrow.

I have no idea why the fuck people play holdem, especially online. PLO8 is a licence to print money.

playing live is super fun as long as you can afford it

you gotta know basic strategy (which you can learn much cheaper at online stakes) and not play scared money

you will feel like an nervous open book the first few times you play. the rush when you get in a big hand is nuts

>Around 70 tournaments in the WSOP
>Not a single classic 5 Card Draw tournament

This is kinda sad, desu. It's a fun game, and I'm far better at it than NLH. Meanwhile, there are several tournaments for shit like 2-7 draw where you can exchange cards up to three times and the worst hand wins.

The only advice I can give that you won't find in a basic PLO guide is to call anyone who 3bets because they are essentially playing face up. Especially in position. Especially if you've seen them cbet already.

Every fish in every room at every stakes 3bets AA2x. This gives you the chance to stack them with hands like two pair on an unpaired board or trips, which would normally be absurdly marginal hands to get it in with in PLO8, but if you're heads up with someone who reraised preflop, you already know three of their cards and can be sure you're ahead most of the time in those spots.

I think people avoid niche games because they assume they're only populated by seasoned players, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Omaha and Stud HiLo games are packed with easy money and are orders of magnitude softer than NLHE.
