And damn proud of it.
>>
>no other movies about realistic/subtle horror alien encounters

really lame
>>
>>79944729
Well Contact exists, y'know
>>
I cried like a bitch at the ending.
>>
will i like contact more than this film?

i like jodie foster way more than i do amy adams if that's any indicator.
>>
>>79944835
nope
movies only good for its time

aliens are uninteresting, too human to make sense anymore, and completely cliche
>>
>>79944835
They are both great films in my opinion
>>
what was the deal with their language?

Yeah now we have Turnkike instead, what an improvement
>>
>>79944835
I liked Contact better. Its more about the alien discovery than Arrival which gets messy with world politics and Amy Adam's dumb family life.
>>
it was a little convenient how the chinese general recounted in exact detail the moment they first spoke to each other all those years ago

a little too convenient
>>
Can the aliens see time after their death process too?

They do not die, so yes. Being in the death process does not stop you from existing.

When time is your fourth dimension, you are constantly beig born, living all of your moments and dying every second.
>>
what did they mean by death process

aren't we all in a death process?
>>
>>79945325
That was a huge turning point in the history of mankind and his own life. I bet we'd all remember that conversation.
>>
>>79945408
there is remembering it and then there is recounting it every time they meet up
>>
>>79945404
Yes?

What are you even asking?
>>
The most important thing I learned on Tralfamadore was that when a person dies he only appears to die. He is still very much alive in the past, so it is very silly for people to cry at his funeral. All moments, past, present and future, always have existed, always will exist. The Tralfamadorians can look at all the different moments just that way we can look at a stretch of the Rocky Mountains, for instance. They can see how permanent all the moments are, and they can look at any moment that interests them. It is just an illusion we have here on Earth that one moment follows another one, like beads on a string, and that once a moment is gone it is gone forever.
When a Tralfamadorian sees a corpse, all he thinks is that the dead person is in a bad condition in that particular moment, but that the same person is just fine in plenty of other moments. Now, when I myself hear that somebody is dead, I simply shrug and say what the Tralfamadorians say about dead people, which is "so it goes.

>>79945423
You mean, the one time they met?
>>
>>79945325
he learned heptopod later and knew he had to say it. he learned the right words at the right time the same way she did.
>>
Time is a flat circle.

...see that thing? that fuckin gorilla would rip your arms off, god what a beast
>>
>>79945672
Abbott saw black stars
>>
>>79944835
Contact is about first contact with aliens and Jodies character.
Arrival is about Amy Adams's character.
>>
9/10 until the "YOOO TIME IS CIRCULAR XD" craziness

Textbook example of how to ruin a movie with its ending
>>
>>79945631
This is what redditors actually believe
>>
>>79946292
Did you watch the movie? In no way did it imply time is circular. It's not even a time travel movie. Amy Adams experiences time nonlineary, this means out of order she can skip ahead or skip back, but things don't repeat and there isn't an altering of the time line there isn't time travel.
