It opens with out of focus images of ceiling lights and men in orange haz mat suits. We gaze into the visor of one them which is showing orange holograms displaying various bits of information. We see a young girl (10-13) with an oxygen mask and hear faint breathing in the otherwise silent scene.

We focus on a single building amongst the static and chatter of the holograms. Static gets louder until we pull in closer to Major standing atop a building as we hear radio chatter mention "Hanka robotics."

"This is major, I'm on site."
Major Aramaki is sitting in some office or something and he tells her to "Wait and report" in subtitled in Japanese.

Inside the building some Representative of Hanka Robotics and the leader of the African coalition or whatever are having dinner and Sake. Hanka man says "Well we at Hanka pride ourselves in our cyber mechanics and feel that now the worlds population is 73% cyberized we should really focus into Africa."

We cut to the major on the rooftop seeing a device on the roof thats scanning all network traffic on the building, implying heavy security detail. She tells aramaki she'll begin a scan of the site and we see a fucking NEATO sequence of her jacking into the net and sweeping through the building. It's in a very anime style and is very clear to understand visually as she scans the rooms and people in the building. "Theres too many rooms, who am I looking for?"

Hanka business man plugs his finger into a small terminal which sends audio into Africa mans head. He hears a child singing. Hanka man speaks. "This is my 4 year old daughter singing french. She was ablebl to fluently learn in just moments by downloading it into her cyber brain."

We cut to an Elevator ding. Some bad looking asian dudes with visors for eyes and briefcases all exit the elavtor. They walk down the hall and pull out SMGs from their bags.

We cut to Hanka man getting served Sake, but the Gynoid just stares and keeps pouring til it overflows. "You see! This is exactly what Im talking about with these mechanizations!" Shouts Africa man.

The gynoid hits Hanka man. Africa man doesnt realize whats happening and continues complaining.
Gynoid smashes the kettle on Hanka mans head then puts him in a choke hold. Other gynoids grab other people in the scene.

The assassins from the elevators are outside the dining room and shoot the security, who turn out to be Robots.

"Gunshots." Says major.

Aramaki to section 9, "Get in position."
We see an armored van spped down the street. Batou (HUMAN EYES) is driving "Section 9 approaching."

"I'm going in." Says major

"I said wait! Hold on!" Shouts Aramaki.

Major strips off her coat and dives. We get a cool dive sequence.
We cut inside the dining room as the assassins continue shooting. We cut to a qucik shot of a hooded man in a dark room full of wires and cables.
We cut to the gynoid strangling Hanka man, and cut back to hooded man who says "Begin the hack." (Holy shit this shot and dialogue was so forced.) The gynoid pulls a cable from its mouth and jacks into Hanka man's neck ports. We see the color fade from his eyes and he passes out.

Suddenly several gunshots come from the windows shooting an assassin and a gynoid. The Major bursts through the window and starts mowing down the assassins.

This scene is also really cool as the special effects were cool as fuck.

The Major's skin/armor looks really interesting and jarring. Definitely something new as she FEELS naked when you look at her but she also feels armored and dangerous.

Her thermoptic camo is off but still causing her to have this weird aura of bending light around her that looks as if she's made of glitching polygons and smoke. She shoots more dudes, and the gynoid expands its arms and legs and crawls up to the ceiling while still holding Hanka dude.

We cut to Batou and section 9 arriving at the building and going up.

Batou then enters with a swat unit and some section 9 members as well. They clear the room. A wounded assassin reaches for a grenade but right as he grabs the pin Major stomps on his hand and shoots him in the face. His eye visor breaks off and we see its directly wired into his eye sockets.

Major shoots the ceiling Gynoid (watching you masturbate) and it drops Hanka man and spazms on the floor before crawling away.

Major follows the Gynoid as it lays helpless on the floor when suddenly it shouts, in a robotic little girls voice. "Help me! Please. I don't want to die! Help me! Please!"

We close up on the Gynoid as Major is now point blank and listening. Gynoids face splits open and we hear a mans voice. "Affiliate with Hanka and you will die."
Major unloads on Gynoid.

She stares at gynoids dead face as Batou approaches and sees her.
"You are not like it!" Shouts Batou to major. "It's just a machine, you have a human brain and human soul!"

Major turns away and activates her Thermoptic camo. And shoves her way through a SWAT team. They are shocked as they didn't see her. Batou announces the scene clear as we see him watch Major with concern.

EPILOGUE

We got a mashup of different scenes and stuff.

Some stuff from the trailers. So extended shots and new stuff too.

We got a better look at the spider tank which overall is the same from 1995 except its painted black with 2 red lights that look like eyes.

Batou seems to have his human eyes for at least half of the movie.

The plot is definitely about how major is being manipulation by Hanka or some shit

BOY WE SEE TOGUSA EATING NOODLES IN A RESTAURANT, TWO ASSASSINS TRY TO KILL HIM BUT HE CASUALLY JUST PULLS OUT HIS MATEBA AND SHOOTS THEM WITHOUT LOOKING AND CONTINUES HIS MEAL

FINAL OBSERVATIONS

The writing is shit. The performances are all forced and hammy, and there's no real depth to the plot so far.

Visually, holy shit this is some of the best action and visual effects I've seen in ages. The action is all very clear and easy to follow while being cool as shit, and the cyberpunk future stuff is also baller as fuck and really neato, there was tons of little detail in the production design

Well in most versions she was cyberized as a kid which is what makes her exceptional, since she has a greater understanding of just generally "having a robot body" than most even fully cyberized adults.

In the Arise timeline they even went full-retard and had her cyberized in utero. That one also had a storyline about the military basically owning her body. And we see her in a red outfit like in Arise in one of the trailers.

That doesn't mean they made a cyberpunk story steampunk though, it's just the geishas. They're robots in the future, sure, but that doesn't mean they need to look like the robots from I, Robot or something. They're designed to be things of beauty, so just like how their faces are made of porcelain, their insides are also ornate, needlessly made out of brass, needlessly emblazoned with elaborate etchings, needlessly filled with cogs. They call back to shit like Victorian automata, a more traditional idea of a robot, which appeals to the traditionalism of the concept of a geisha.

I quite like them, they're nicely designed. I'm not a fan of this film getting made, of the casting choices or what they're doing with the story, but I have to admit I'm pretty impressed with some of the visuals. The preview of the shelling sequence actually surprised the fuck out of me, there's at least SOME competence here. I really hate the giant building-sized holograms though, they kind of wreck the whole thing for me, it's so fucking goofy looking.
