I never never understood the dislike of it at all. The cgi has aged very poorly, but things like the worms still look pretty good. The score, the acting, the fantastic sets, all very very good and the story wasn't THAT hard to follow. Even the voice over which sometimes bugs me didn't bother me in Dune. It was rushed for sure, especially as it got closer to the end, but it was still a great film

The main issue with dune 2 is the map had limited resources and if you used them all and didn't have enough units to take the enemy base you're fucked, also you could only select one unit at a time

Maybe I worded it poorly? The effects have aged poorly, and a lot of stuff that could have been shown was crammed into minutes of exposition throughout. It's still enjoyable that way, just feels less fleshed out. What do you mean? I've never read tre book if that makes a difference

David Lynch just wasn't the right guy for the job. He excells at small, personal stories, not grand science fiction epics. Nothing about Erasslerhead or Elephant Man would have implied that Dune would be the right material for him to adapt.

Interesting, guess lynch isn't for you. Inland Empire, Lost Highway, Wild At Heart, FWWM, and Blue Velvet were all better imo and I'd say I enjoyed Dune as much as Eraserhead. And I'd say those two are 7/10
