Has anyone seen this?

Is it just me or is this movie a 10/10, a literally perfect movie?
>>
>>79890586
It's just you anon. First act was good, then the movie mostly fell apart, imo.
>>
>>79890639
Yeah. I fast forwarded the last 30 minutes of the film. First act was indeed solid.
>>
another pretentious le "deep drama" schlock that tried to pull in the zombie gimmick so it can attract at least some attention.
>>
>>79890693
>pretentious
I watched le swiss army man lately. Now THAT was pretentious. Worst fucking shit i have ever seen in my entire life.
>>
It was alright but hardly anything special. Also it annoyed me that they figured out that breaking the line of sight of the zombies made them lose interest immediately and yet they never used that knowledge again even when facing the exact same situation
>>
is it me or are korean blockbusters literally just Hollywood Tropes: The Hollywood Trope Story, Cliché Harder

literally every single scene and character interaction is a well-worn fucking cliché

every character in the movie is the most basic of fucking boring archetypes

the movie felt like a film student assembling his first script by snipping out bits from movies on a list of CLASSIC HOLLYWOOD CINEMA arranged by box-office revenue.

I still cried when the dad died.
>>
>>79890676
Same, as soon as the burly husband died I felt the movie reached it's climax, then they repeat that beat for every other character. Characters that weren't interesting to start with
>>
>>79890586
How fucking new are you?
>>
>>79890992
Very. First post on /tv/. Why? Did i do something wrong? Enlighten me, oh mighty old fag.
>>
>>79890906
It's not just you. Koreans can't innovate for shit and only take whatever works for their audience and crank it up to 11.
>>
>>79890906

Not just you, their drama usually consists of Days of Our Lives tier conflicts and resolutions. Their shits cheesy af, but nowhere near as cheesy as jap shit.
>>
>>79891036
>jesus
>>
>>79891133
Ayy, so that's why no one takes /tv/ serious.

Good to know.
>>
>>79891110
japs are cheesy af but they make up for it by producing a truly fucking ludicrous genre that's halfway between arthouse and exploitation cinema (e.g. tokyo tribes)
>>

no, that's not why
to find the reason why check out all the oscarposting in the catalogue with idiots screaming about the impending racewar

/tv/ is indeed a strange place. I'll just show myself out.

>>
>>79891198
I was surprised how much I liked Tokyo Tribe considering the premise made me cringe pretty hard, but I got tired of it by 45 minutes and turned it off after like 80. All that great style still needs a real plot to work for as long as it is, in the manner that it's sturctured
>>
>>79891508
You're still not fooling anyone anon. I honestly pity you, thanks for replying, clearly shows you're not upset at all. Feel free to reply again tho.

Its one of my top 2016 films

1. Batman v Superman Dawn of justice Director's Cut ™
2. Hacksaw Ridge
3. Zootopia
4. Neon Demon
5. Swiss Army Man
6. Train to Busan
7 .Doctor Strange

Why are Korean films consistently decent? I've only seen return to base but my friend literally cannot stop sucking Korean film dick
>>

Fuck this movie everybody dies
>>
True story, my friend hyped up my group of friends to see this movie, saying how rave the reviews were, tried to get us to see it every time we hung out.

It was so embarrassing and corny that we turned it off 40 minutes in and we never let our friend live it down for suggesting that "shitty Korean soap opera b movie". We bring it up any time he suggests a film.

Ah i'm beginning to understand this place. It's literally HURR DURR I'M A FUCKING RETARD HURR, right? Because this is about as unsubtle as it gets.
>>
>>79891602
Korean cinema is basically Hollywood 2. It's all fedora dog shit. It gives plebs the ability to say they've seen foreign films and allows them to keep the same type of enjoyment they get from Blockbusters.
>>
>>79891602
Because you have literally no understanding of Korean films.

Here is my private tracker, sorted by release date. That's Korean consistency, they make porn, not movies.

Sure, they have maybe 10 standouts films, but if you think that's consistency because it's in a list, that you've watched, you are a literal retard.

It's one of those movies you watch with friends and don't think about a whole lot.

Old boy
I saw the devil
Memories of murder
Yellow Sea
The chaser
Man from nowhere
The wailing
Spring Summer Winter Fall and Spring
Mother
The handmaiden

The list goes on
>>
>>79891684
Huh.

So it's just glorification of the self then? There's a lot of plastic surgery involved too by the looks of it
>>
>>79890586
Definitely not a 10/10 or perfect movie. It was a competent zombie movie, but nothing that groundbreaking or amazing. I also can't stand the overly emotional shit that Korean movies have sometimes, like at the end when the dad sacrifices himself and his kid is wailing... seriously annoying.

Off the top of my head, another Korean movie with the overly dramatic crying is Death Bell.
>>
>>79891684
More Korean consistency.

Wong Kei-Ying and Beggar So are fucking GOAT though.
>>
>>79891227
>>79891307

/pol/ack here. This is funny how /tv/'s redditors are completely paranoid about us and are lashing out at random people.

Kind like those antifas who attacked people on the streets because they looked like skinheads while in fact they just had a skin disease.

Porn is not allowed in South Korea. These movies are how they circumvent the system.

I know I also didn't state but I didn't filter only Korean movies, obviously there are Chinese, Indians and other Asian nation's movies here.

but I mean, look at the saturation of these porn films. Handmaiden is in the same vein.

having seen some of those films, calling them porn is pretty fucking puritanical

they're no more lascivious than any given hollywood romance, romantic drama, or romantic thriller.

especially from the 90's to early 2000's.

I watched it the other day.

What are you talking about bro?? You didn't think that scene with the fat guy karate chopping the same 40 zombies repeatedly just pushing them back killing none wasn't HELLA FREAKING EPIC?! Such a friggin BALLER movie op. Dude for real this movie was OFF THE CHAIN
>>
>>79892185
It's Korean porn, straight up porn is outlawed.

>having seen some of those films
Which? Because I mean I regularly watch these "films". They are at least 40% soft-core sex scenes.

>they're no more lascivious than any given hollywood romance, romantic drama, or romantic thriller.
Hollywood films feature sex scenes, their sex scenes are not 15 minute long scenes, of sex scenes. To happen multiple times throughout. Except if the movie is explicit a "sex" movie (Love Blue is the warmest colour). I mean, you simply cannot argue that these movies are not soft-core porn flicks. You cannot be that delusional?
>>
>>79892367
I thought Korean porn was K-Pop?
>>
>>79892367
>They are at least 40% soft-core sex scenes
yeah that's why I say they're not that different
especially from hollywood erotic thrillers.
>>
>>79890906
Korean cinema is pretty much Hollywood+
>>
>>79891792
I'll never understand why old boy always makes these kinds of lists but sympathy for mr. vengeance and JSA are always left out. Don't get me wrong old boy is an amazing film but it's like Chan-wook Park only gets 1 film per list and everyone has to pick old boy as his representative (besides the handmaiden which is still new). I'd consider old boy, JSA and sympathy for mr. vengeance easily among the top 10 or even top 5 modern korean films.
>>
Absolute trash that should have been the cartoon movie while the cartoon should have been the live action one
>>
>>79892443
So you are being retarded on purpose? Got it. Because they are literally nothing like Hollywood 'erotic thrillers' you said it yourself, there is a genre inside of hollywood for these films, this is not the case with Korean film industry, weather it be thriller, weather it be horror, weather it be comedy, sure as fuck almost half of it is going to be soft-core sex scenes. I mean, if you had ACTUALLY watched these films you would know this.

But I mean, you are just being retarded on purpose, right? You've never actually watched any of those films. Just so you know, there is barely 2 months in-between the last of the films in >>79892086 and the most recent in >>79891684. I asked you to name which you had seen, but you didn't. Because you are talking out of your ass.

>>79892427
It's all the same.
>>
>>79892166
Japan doesn't suffer from it quite so much but Korean cinema draws a ton of influence from Shakespeare I think
>>
>>79892512
I guess most people don't want to clog their list with 3 films from the same series so they just include the best one (that's debatable but most people agree that Old Boy is the best).
>>
>>79892166
lol only Koreans get off on that shit. its a psychological thing by being fucked hard by chinks and japs in their history of war
>>
>>79892574

>JUST LIKE HOLLYWOOD
>horror has sex
>oh shit hollywood horror doesn't have sHAHAHA JUST KIDDING OF COURSE IT'S JUST LIKE HOLLYWOOD, LITERALLY MOST WELL KNOWN TROPE

what did he mean by this???
>>
>>79892783
Okay?

You could simply have said which of those films you have actually seen, you know, you said earlier you have seen some of them, which gives you some credibility to actually know what you are saying? Back up your own credibility, anon, come on now. Don't post memes. Refute the point.
>>
>>79892166
yeah I noticed that too. every single korean film I have ever seen has a tragic ending.
maybe life in korea is so mind-numbingly boring that making exaggeratedly emotional films is the only way they can experience any emotions.
>>
>>79892783
he meant "I want to be special and anyone else claiming knowledge of what I have declared myself an expert in is a threat to my uniqueness"
>>
>>79893048

genuinely at this point who are you talking to, and follow up question: who do you believe/wish you were talking to?
>>
Quick, name me some Gookino. I've watched:

>Train to Busan
>Memories of Murder
>The Chaser
>I Saw the Devil
>Oldboy
>The Host
>Man From Nowhere
>Tears for the Dead
>New World (This movies is one of the best crime movies I've ever seen)
>>
>>79890586
it was good but not that good. Probably an 8 at best
>>
>>79893188
>genuinely at this point who are you talking to, and follow up question: who do you believe/wish you were talking to?

Who are you talking to? I mean, why are you talking to me? I mean, if you were attempting to refute the point I would understand, but you are simply baiting me. I mean, good job, if you don't want to actually discuss the topic, why even begin?

I wish I were actually talking to someone who knows what they are saying, and when they say something online they can actually back it up, even something as simple as "I have seen those movies".

Is that so hard to ask?

In my opinion, it takes elements from World War Z and 28 Days Later and mashes them together in a blender and you get this movie.

Its not amazing, but its not terrible either, with all the recent zombie movies shit we get, it stands out because it mashes those two movies elements.

Its just a fun watch if you like the whole zombie genere, i refused to see this movie in the theater because it had some generic name like "Zombie train" or some shit, then i saw some reviews, download it and was genuinely surprised.
>>
Kim Yoon-Seok (the protag in The Chaser) is low key one of my favorite actors of all time.
Granted, he doesn't have range but he can play the "fuck you I don't give a shit" type of character very damn well.
