I remember when this was first announced. It was just called 'Skull Island'. I thought they were going to create their own little setting and explore the massive pulpy potential of Skull Island as its own world. Maybe how it was discovered in the first place and why people rushed to cover up its existence or something.

But then they added the Kong prefix. Then it was another fucking Kong movie. Then it was an origin story for a cinematic universe leading to an ebin versus movie.

I have some serious beef with Marvel for pushing the cinematic universe meme, now every major franchise has to be one and it's such a fucking scheme.

That being said I really loved the creature design aside from kong, from the bison thingy to the tree made out of flying fucks. Also some shots look neat but the overall human action imho lacked the fluidity and some shots felt forced. Like I get it that the director likes vietnam movies but I don't feel like there is a reason to give ammo cool looking shots when it's proven useless couple of scenes after that. Well, maybe it will end up being "civilization vs nature" flick but right now i don't like it.

The plot of this movie is that these Skull Crawlers are killing everything else on the island and are now going after the last Kong and these new human visitors. Yet there's pretty much no carnage to be seen outside of the graveyard where they live underground. You could live on this Skull Island without having these lizards ever find you, as John C. Reiley shows.

Compare that to other verisons of Skull Island were there's no where you can go without getting fucked by either King Kong, T-rexes, triceratops', monster bugs and the batshit natives.

CONS:
