Which series is better? The Alien series started off great, but

can't tell if pleb, retard, bait, or a mix of these.

Predator 2 was great. What the fuck is wrong with you?

I like both creatures though I think the predator is the more interesting due to the relative intelligence and technological advantage.

I have slightly more confidence in Aliens: Covenent. But I think both will be great.

Also you can't really compare the series. Aliens is (was) a series about something that is truly "alien" to us with the fact we don't know where it comes from, what it is thinking or even if it thinks while Predator was a cheesy 80's action movie with a spoopy hunter alien thrown in.

I'll always prefer the Alien franchise since it's much more sci-fi, but the original Predator was undeniably more badass. I don't care for any of the predator sequels, though, and I don't think they can go too many directions to make the series more interesting.

Why don't you like Predator 2? I think the casting and acting was supperb, and it seemed like a natural thing to have the predator sequel be in an urban environment. The special effects are good, and the new gadgets that the predator wields are really cool imho - the pred-disc has even become quite iconic. Well I think an urban environment was a natural thing, because the first one was set in a remote location far from civilization, due to the warm weather. But then in the sequel the threat of the predator moves closer to audience in a sense, because L.A. is having a record hot summer, thus making the presence of the Predator more scary. It also high lights that dangerous humans are not just elite military units, but also something more simple - criminals and police.

Regarding the effects and gadgets, I think it is a valid point because the predator franchise is science fiction about an alien that kills people, and science fiction films often rely on or are percieved to rely on their special effects and props to emphasize the 'science' part.

But I would still like to know why you don't like Predator 2.

I think that the original Predator movie had a cast of characters that were stereotypes to en extent, however I think that them all being part of an elite comando unit gave them some soul when in end of the first act and through the secound act, they open up and we get to know the characters more as people, and not just stereotypes.

I agree with you on the subway scene, because it felt like moviemakers could think of a better way to resolve the ongoing circumstances in that scene, however it does not subract from my over all enjoyment. The gravyard scene I do not really have any strong opinions on. And the scene with the old lady, I think is funny, but I think that they tone of voice she has when she delivers the line "I don't think he gives a damn." could have been better, but I still think it is funny, but it could have been left out and the overall tone of the movie might have been a little more consistent... 2 out of 3 predator movies are good (1 and 2), with the 3rd being mediocre.

2 out of 5 alien movies are good (1 and 2), with the others being shit. And before some Alien 3 autist tries to tell me that 3 is better than 2, realize that my point is discussing each series' ratio of good to bad movies, so even by your bad logic my point stands.

The best alien movies are better than the best predator movies, but predator movies have a much higher chance of being decent.

AVP movies hurt the brand integrity of both franchises but obviously dont affect the ratio either way.

Alien and Aliens are both fantastic films that are still watchable decades after their debut. Alien 3 is deeply flawed but has some fantastic arty moments. A4 fun in a campy B movie sort of way.

Predator is a textbook perfect example of a 80s action flick. Predator 2 enjoyable but only out of a sense of nostalgia though not a strong film. the others in the series are so shit not worth discussing.

Aliens the objectively the superior franchise.

You say that as if means something next to some of the greats of the 80's.

I can tell you right now beyond a shadow of a doubt, if Predator 2 was the first movie in the series you saw, that will be your favorite film.

It's the only movie in the entire universe that actually did any world building. The Predator comes to the city, attracted by all of the sectarian gang violence, and just starts wreaking havoc.

What I loved about the movie wasn't even just the Predator scenes. It was how overall violent, gritty, and dark the entire scene of the film was. It was like a modern noir movie only there's a giant roided out alien running around kicking everyone's ass.

And the final scene was by far the best in the entire series .

The only graphic effects in the entire movie are the predator's heat vision and stealth camo. Everything else is practical.

When the Predator takes out that Jamaican hit squad that was doing their blood ritual killing of the rival latino gang leader (during the middle of a porn star quality sex scene I might add) ....god that was so graphic.

The Aliens in AvP were the best. I wish they'd made the Predators on their level.
