he used to be up until the producers forced him to work on shit he didn't care about.
He made a whole movie (glory to the filmmaker) which was basically a filmed confession of selling out to the producers, it wasn't even subtle about it and yet the critics not only did not get it, but also keep praising every single movie he puts out even though they are just competently made but extremely generic yakuza flicks with no substance. Movie critics are just retarded sheep who don't even watch the movies they rate, they just assume they are supposed to like them because kitano is in them.
His starring in the new gits and in a videogame are obvious attempts at destroying his own career (he's always gone on record saying he hates videogames) yet critics will praise him anyway because they are fucking stupid
