So, I stopped watching about at the start of season 8. But I've heard that season 11 was great. Don't know how 12 is so far.
Point is, is it worth it to catch up?Because I read something about Lucifer possessing the president and if that doesn't scream "We ran out ideas!", then nothing does.

Don't bother catching up. Plotwise nothing has happened, they have changed from a plot driven show to being all about the brothers relationship, pandering to tumblr fangirls is all they're doing these days. So you can watch the new episodes without worrying about having missed anything important.

I stopped watching during S6, but I find it hard to believe that this show keeps being renewed solely on the wings of shrieking fan girls if there is no guy on guy action between the mains.
They would've already been accused of "queerbaiting" ten times over.
