The 3D is looking better and better over the years. The physics engine has to get released to the public one day. The right kind of colour palette and the 3D looks great, so long as they keep away from attempting to animate humans.

You've just not got the 2D talent anymore. More people are trained to use 3D and the rendering is improving, compared toy story or any of the shorts from early 90s during the early stages of 3D pixar/dreamworks to what we've gotten over the last couple of years.
