I mainly dealt with the cancer patients. Basically cancer patients have all the problems because their illness and treatments create secondary issues. Iraq. We were escorting a contractor fuel truck when we got hit.
Standard procedure in an ambush is to just keep driving and let the gun trucks take care of things but this guy must've panicked or something because he stopped his truck for a few seconds.

When I went through basic, fat guy platoon was separated from the rest of the company, and they did nothing but exercise all day. You end up in there if you're so abysmally bad on the entrance PT exam that they deem you in need of better fitness. Basically, if your target is to hit 40 pushups and you can only do 2, you get thrown in fat guy platoon. There are skinny guys in there too, basically people that haven't eaten since the Bush administration, but most are big boned southern boys. once these guys are actually in better shape they get recycled back into in processing and get put in with another group of people to go through basic proper.

No one that actually gets put on a plane to a basic training station is going to be morbidly obese, but there were some that were pretty big. They managed to make it through medical screenings so they're never that bad.
