Boardwalk Empire

First two seasons are good, then it goes to shit.

It really never reaches its potential. Around season 3-4 Bucky starts personally gunning people down with a shotgun.

I don't necessarily regret watching it, but I seriously doubt I'll ever watch it again or recommend it.

Only worthwhile if you adore the period.

Its okay. Good at its absolute best, never great.

S1-Mostly good, stretches of okay to bad

S2. Some Good, Longer Stretches of okay to bad

S3. Some Bad Small Stretches of okay to good

S4. Mostly Okay

If you start it, watch all of it. It does drop in quality, but it's never bad. Also I recommend Mad Men straight out of Sopranos, then you can either watch The Wire or any of the Holy Trinity of Not As Good As Sopranos/MadMen/Wire

Just finished it. Its ok, but far from Sopranos tier. Starts out good the first seasons, but gods over the top in violence and writing/plot declines heavily later on. Worth watching tho if you're bored imo.

Season 4 is the best season. Season 5 would have been amazing but HBO decided to fuck it all up.

It would have been a better show if Lucky Luciano, Al Capone and Meyer Lansky had been the main characters from the start, charting their rise and the establishment of the Commission, instead of all the OC shit.

They might have been able to fit in based Frank Costello if they'd done that.

In the end Nucky Johnson/Thompson was just a sideshow to the formal establishment of the Mafia.

If you like the Steve Buscemi character from Sopranos, you'll enjoy Boardwalk Empire. Its not the best show and it does have a noticeable decline in quality after season 3, but its still worth watching, especially like >>79726578 said if you like the period. IMO its better than a lot of TV that was on when it was still running

S1 is great, S2 is good, S3-4 are pretty bad.

S5 was pretty polarizing but I liked it, made me like Nucky's character after disliking him for so long.
