It felt the other way around for me, at least in parts. I never hated Ghostbusters 2 (quite the opposite, actually), but it is a downgrade that overemphasizes the humor.

Here's one for everyone: Next time you watch it, pay attention to Venkman's characterization. In the first movie, he was an overall goofy guy who would occasionally drop one-liners at inappropriate times, but he also had some normal moments and conversational or expositional dialogue. In the sequel, literally *every single line* of his is a quip. He is not serious *once* throughout the entirety of the movie.

Growing up, this notion of sequels being bad/inferior wasn't even part of my thinking. To me, sequels meant Ghostbusters 2, Gremlins 2, Critters 2, Aliens, Terminator 2, Child's Play 2 and Fright Night 2, all movies that I enjoyed just as much as their predecessors.

Man, shit was great, and probably had some deep that wouldn't explain, anyways, this movie has one of the best scenes in cinematography (at least for me), that one with Cain -mecha messing in the dark.

It's more gritty and less over the top. Road Warrior is great, but it's very 80s in some places. Mad Max is also less plot driven and more about the characters and the setting.
