The big twist of the movie is that The Joker is central to Phantasm's origins. Then it turns into a Joker movie. The Dark Knight doesn't force any of its villains.

They're characters, and they're much more organic than you're pretending they are.
It's not even that big a twist; we know from the moment he enters the story ten minutes in that he was at least involved in some way, because his pal begs him for help.
I don't know how it's "forced" to introduce a brand new character never before seen in the comics and integrate her into the established Joker/Batman relationship.

I thought it was really well done. Not a masterpiece but certainly less "forced" than producing Harvey Dent out of nowhere with no mention in the previous film, and then recasting Rachel Dawes because she had to be present so she could fuel new-guy-Dent's storyline.

Makes me proud despite all the terrible taste we see on /tv/ now. Theres still patricians who recognize Superhero Kino when they see it.
