Fuck off this shit is comfy as fuck. Gonna watch with my girl when she comes down for the weekend
>>
only watching it tonight coz of my waifu

Passengers is yet another example as to why you should go see the movies professional critics hate & save your money on the ones they absolutely love. Going to see a movie at the theater is like $30 now for just 2 people & that's without visiting concessions. I don't know about everybody else but if I'm going to spend a few days worth of grocery money for a 2 hour movie experience I'm really hoping not to be bored to tears or looking at the time wondering how much longer it'll be until a movie is over. Passengers just ends up on my very long list, lately, of movies critics tried to bring down that were waves better than the ones they are directing people to see. This movie is visually stunning & the story telling is not only thought provoking but innovative while doing so! It was great to see a story like this one told in a way that didn't spend most of its time trying to dialogue it's way into Oscar nominations.

I agree and I'm actually grateful of the bad reviews, because it made me go in with low expectations and come out happily satisifed.
>>
>>79691811
Word. Passengers also made me read a few reviews instead of just looking at the scores. Turns out a lot of people that hated it really harped on the whole MUH RAPE thing.

awful film

pretty comfy movie desu, didn't think it would be considering the reviews

The romance totally hijacked the movie for big middle portion and that didn't work for me because the bitch was so unlikeable. If you cut the middle third cliche (down to predictable break up) love story, its decent scifi.

Bad reviews were only because all the liberal reviewers got triggered as he kinda Stockholm syndrome raped her ish.

They vented their outrage and tried to make the movie tank.

Imagine it happened to you. You could become a rape machine. Just keep waking up the cute women and fucking them. Once they are used up throw them out the airlock.

>no way to put people to sleep on the ship, despite the fact its going to carry passengers on the return. Again, for reasons.
>when shit is really bad, a crew member happens to wake up (for reasons) and promptly dies (for reasons).
>movie ends with the shocking revelation there is a way to put people back in stasis. But there is only one stasis maker. and they both can't use it. For. Reasons.

I'm with the guy who'd just wake up hot qt's and fuck and murder them in all sorts of imaginative ways.
>>
Do you really get to see Jennifer Lawrence nude?

This would have made an awesome horror movie.
>>

No.
>>

fuck, I really just want to see her finally go nude and try to justify her sinking to that level and ignoring the fact everyone's seen her anus
>>
>>79688452
how do you get these super crisp super lighted portrait headshots?
>>
Overall it was a solid movie but I feel they took the easy route on the end. Jim should have died and the ending should have been either

>Aurora lives alone and finishes her book, the people who wake up find her book, which is considered to be one of the greatest books of all time.
Or
>Aurora appreciates the struggle Jim went through being alone and ends with her debating making the same decision he did to wake someone up
>>
>>79700452
>1 single stasis maker
>1 medical pod
>5,000 passengers

Shit was really fucking weird.
>>
I was really hoping it'd turn into The Shining in Space.
>>
>>79702393

I get that it was because everyone was supposed to be asleep but they said everyone was going to wake up 4 months ahead of arrival. So they expect no more than one person to get hurt at a time in 4 months?

>every time I hear about this I have to check

Why didn't they plan for this contingency? Every pod should have a sign that says

>"In the event of waking up early, go to Pod 3761 and wake up Dr. Whoever so that he can put you back into stasis"
>>
>>79690632
Not if she goes down on me first :^)

>ironclad security measures on the crew sleeping pods to ensure no one ever wakes them up, ever.

>passengers, people who paid to be on the ship, have no security what so ever.

>>
If there are "spare parts for everything on this ship" then they could have built up a second med-pod thing. Maybe it would take a while but I'm sure they could figure it out.
>>
>>79704201
but then who press butan??
>>
Drink every time they use the word failsafe wrong.
>>
>>79704208

One of the robots obviously.
>>
Just watched it, I thought it was good. The tech they showed off was really cool and believable, except for the fusion reactor.

Ending was pretty weak though, wish they had kids who relayed what happened to the crew at the end.
>>
I enjoyed. Really do not understand why the movie is hated so much... I'll chalk it to people nitpicking at minor flaws to feel smarter (e.g. pseudo-intellectuals).

My only gripe with the movie is that I didn't find Lawrence and Pratt's chemistry believable (sloppy kisses in some scenes), considering that romance is a big part of the script. Also, Jennifer Lawrence has never looked as good to me, god damn that body tho.
>>
>>79705757

It got a lot of hate because the starring woman wasn't a Stronk Independent Womyn who don't need no man. It showed that women still desire men and that monogamous heterosexual relationships are not only beautiful but the root of all life and civilization.

So yeah, liberals hated it.
>>
>>79690332
Better then The Arrival
>>
>>79705757
People were saying that he 'raped' her by forcing her to wake
>>
>>79705683
>except for the fusion reactor.

... that was a tokamak, dog. It was probably the only actual believable technology in the movie.
>>
>>79705994
I'm saying the way it operated was unbelievable, with manual venting and shit, and a convenient viewing window for the sake of audience.
>>
>>79706106

Every important piece of equipment controlled by computers should have a manual back up. I see nothing wrong with this.
>>
>>79706125
BACK OFF??? machines are people too, you can't just control them
>>
>>79706125
actual engineers design things, especially a nuclear reactor, with multiple redundancies and fail-safes. the idea of joe schmo pulling a lever to vent a billion dollar reactor is just ridiculous.
>>
>>79706250

Well I'm also not a turbo autist so I'm willing to forgive some slight technical gaffs for the sake of it being a sci fi movie and for it to have drama. I mean let's watch your version

>Oh no the reactor is over heating and we'll all die if we don't vent it!
>*boop* there, I pressed the backup vent button
>Oh good. Well I still hate you

So much more fun.
>>
So at the end they fuck up with all the supplies and shit building a wack ass eco system on the ship so when the passengers arrive to earth 2.0 they have nothing to colonize with? They doomed them to hell

I assume the plants were to minimize how many onboard supplies they had to use.
>>
>>79705683
>wish they had kids who relayed what happened to the crew at the end.
That would be extremely cruel to their kids, they'd literally live and die without ever meeting with a living person.
>>
>>79706489

How do we know they didn't have kids? 90 years is enough to have not only multiple kids but also grandkids and maybe even great grand kids depending on well they balance their supplies and shit.
>>
>>79706523
the film didn't rule it out but it would been a cooler ending than this one.

All these comments about the movie being bad should tell you it's actually a good movie. Anything /tv/ loves to bait as shit is probably going to be a good movie.

/tv/ are edgelord contrarians who really should stick to capeshit.
>>
>>79706410
For one, it's an 'auto'-doc, meaning it's really only useful in the absence of an actual physician, which means there are actual doctors on that ship, they're just hibernating. Second of all, it only has to service for four months until they reach the planet. Lastly, non-special treatments can be handed via dispensers, like the pills we saw. The auto-doc only really diagnoses and even in emergency situations, it works faster and with less fuzz than an actual ER, so the turnout rate is much higher.
>>
>>79708315
That sounds... kinda cool actually. Name of the comic?

That sounds really close to "faggot". They should've chose a better name.
>>
If the ship could automatically repair other problems how come it couldn't repair the computer?
>>
>>79703390
They actually changed the original written ending.
>>
>>79716146

From what?
>>
>>79715746
every scene group calls each other faggots all the time and all the other names are taken.
>>
>>79706250
>with multiple redundancies and fail-safes.

how can something be failsafe in multiple ways? Isn't being safe from failure an all or none thing?
>>
>>79706340
The problem is the movie inverts literally every remotely intelligent design choice for the sake of forcing drama where any idiot can see it wouldn't be.

Why the fuck would the manual venting lever be inside the fucking vent?
>>
>>79716498

Because it's the shortest distance. To put it outside you would have to either make it have electrical linkages (thus defeating the point of it being manual) or a large number of relatively complex mechanical components thus increasing the likelihood of failure from a part being damaged.
