I remember seeing this live, it's amazing how poorly Jerry thought it out. You can't halt a live comedy talk show to cut to another comedian trying to apologize for being racist, especially since 70% of the gags on Letterman involved cutting away to someone on location and about to do something funny.

Seinfeld sucked.

I feel sorry for Kramer. It's pretty obvious when you really think about it there only possibility is he went for shock humour and it backfired.

Think about it. Either:

- He's genuinely racist and open about it, in which case the public would have known about it when he first became famous and he would have been cut from Seinfeld

- He's genuinely racist but hid it, in which case it's weird that after decades in the industry he would snap like that at one show

- He's not genuinely racist, and went for shock humour and it went terribly, so he doubled down and it just got worse. White comics have used nigger before in their bits. I can think of Louis Ck and Bill Maher both doing it off the top of my head. They just did it better so people understood it was a joke
