Keep all the slapstick stuff except for battles and dangerous situations where he's on point. In one instance Qui Gon gets stuck and needs his help, to which Jar Jar goes "bro, you gonna have to toss me that lightstick dude", and Qui Gon grudgingly gives it to him then Jar Jar takes down 50 droids with it before destroying the computer keeping Qui Gon trapped.
