For example, J.Edgar/Milk are great dramas about a gay men but both contain very little sex (no more than a hetero drama) because the movies weren't about dating/romance but about their professional lives.

"Pracila queen of the desert" "the Birdcage" and "To Wang Fu" are all considered extremely gay movies but have basically no sex at all (if you don't count hetero female strippers)
While "Broke back Mountain" is extremely straight except for the fact the guys do it with each other.

I didn't stutter. Their are films like the film OP mention that are backed by major studios and then there is the rest of the LGBT film which are made by smaller studios /tv/ never talks about the smaller films like Girls Lost,
Better Than Chocolate, or Kissing Jessica Stein .
