Eh, I use to post on IMDB more than here. The board structuring is kind of dated. By the end they were fixing/updating stuff, but i guess it was too late. It is kind of sad the more I think about it though.

Everyone is acting like a site will die without an active forum/comment area but I think we're moving to a post-comment internet. Not everyone needs to know what some basement deweller thinks about a movie. People get caught up in the ability to say whatever they want that they think they're entitled to comment on everything.

It won't be long before Youtube goes full no-comments too.

If that's what they want then that's what I'll do. I'm going to start posting my opinions about the various arthouse films I watch under their shitty pop culture movie posts on Facebook and start trying to generate discussions about movies most of the people there have never heard of. Let's see how much they like that.
>>
>>79605691
There's some website that does that to 4chan too. It's called Sheeky foums or something.
>>
>>79603859

>>
>>79603866

IMDB and amazon are american companies but they wanted to be done with the message boards so bad they used fucking EURO time. lol. fuck them.
>>
>>79605862
You know what?
When I got that page I posted in the screencap that said that there were no discussions, I went to archive.is to look for it. It said it had not been archived yet, so I archived it right then and there, hoping it might turn up. If you search for it there, you might find the archive I made on Feb. 6.

Welcome to the nu-web where corporations want to control what you say and sell you useless materialistic crap.

It's no coincidence that the web is getting smaller (when it should be getting bigger) and websites are removing community section.

The internet is dead.

why don't you have the archive.is link to it?

I'm genuinely saddened by this. 15 years of my internet history gone just like that. Me and some friends used to make threads and goof around on boards for obscure shows and actors from my irrelevant country and every now and then we would look back at it and have a laugh. Many boards were really comfy and some threads would last for years. Fuck this shit.
>>
>>79606411
Registered in 2005, but I used it for years before that. Haven't used the boards that much though, and only for specific things. Now it's just to maintain my watchlist and look of info on movies.

I'll legit be pissed if Youtube ever removes comments.

It's like a variable treasure trove of garbage but fuck me if it doesn't make me laugh. Be it the hypocrisy on major videos or just normal little videos with people who honestly are voicing their opinions.

You know the internet is truly dead when you can't even comment on a fucking youtube video anymore.
>>
>>79607347
I was a politics board regular on IMDb and I can tell you that in the last year or so the /pol/ influence grew significantly (and not for the better, further demonstrating that everything /pol/ touches turns to shit). I'm not sure how well known it is on the general movie and actor boards though. I doubt most of them know there is a board for film discussion on 4chan.
>>
>>79600387

What does it matter? Be them popular or not some people, quite obviously due to the complaints, spent time there.

They're fucking message boards. They cost zero dollars for Amazon to maintain. Some people obviously got value out of them. Why the fuck should they be shut down?
>>
>>79607293

Name one unique feature of IMDb, other than the boards, which are now dead

>protip: you can't

seriously, why would I want to visit the website now? If I want info about the movie/actors/director/whatever, it is all there on wikipedia (more conveniently presented). If I want some dumb trivia, it's on tvtropes. Reviews are all over the internet, RT and Metacritic come to mind.
>>
>>79609760
I actually feel the same. I'm did film history in college, and that board was literally the only place in the internet where people would still talk about old films. I also had an account since 2004, and had over 100 active posts in the forums. I admit that I haven't been there that much lately, but just as you, I do feel that a part of me just died now.

Every time I'd see a movie that consisted of the military in some way or another I would check the message boards and sure enough this one particular user would guaranteed to be there, posting.
