Here's another thing. If you can't appreciate why the humor in the original ghost busters is special you need to neck yourself.
The """"""""""jokes"""""""""" in the remake were all just generic quips, one-liners and visual gags. Any asshole could have been cast in those rolls and landed the jokes just as well.
The original ghostbusters had humor that was partiular to the cast. I'm not even just talking about Bill Murray here, Rick Moranis' style of humor can only be done by Rick Moranis. Same goes for the late great Harold Ramis. If any one else tried to act as Harold Ramis' character they would have come off as le ebin bazinga man.

Basically what it all comes down to is that you are a turbo pleb who will never be capable of looking beneath the surface of a movie.

Well my field is medicine tho I do have my pilots lic as well so does my hubby we own a Velocity TXL. Anyway I come from a military and medical family from Germany but now have dual citizenship in the US, and we do have a US side of our families as well. My fathers side are the military and LE side. 2 of my younger brothers are military pilots, one here in the US and the other back home in Germany, so one flies a F-15E in the USAF and the other is in Luftwaffe and flies the Eurofighter Typhoon. My dad was also a Luftwaffe pilot who flew Tornado's my hubby's family is similar to mine so lots of flying etc. Anyway my point is I know a lot about airplanes or flying I have over 500 hours in the TXL and about 1500 total in single engine light aircraft with vfr and Ifr ratings.

But this reminds me of the horrible accident and mistake by that fairly new Marine pilot who crashed his FA-18 into a home in San Diego not too long ago and killed a Korean family or everyone but the father he lost his wife and kids I think. But this was pilot error or inexperience (google it for the whole story) as it was something like he had the chance to bring it down safely but chose to trouble shoot or something like that but by that time it was too late and his jet crashed right into a occupied home after he ejected. very very sad story but all too real. It happens way too many times at small civil airports as well, quite a few like the recent North Las Vegas crashes by light aircraft into homes 2 were like weeks between them or something like that here in LA its crazy we use the John Wayne Airport to avoid the LAX zones but many light aircraft have fallen here as well and across the country thankfully hitting homes is still the minority but it does happen as any pilot knows . We have a PRS system installed (google it) in our plane for a worst case event btw. Pardon the rant got a cold and bored.

Im not a fan of Ghostbusters.

I can appreciate the original, but it was before my time and im not going to praise it to heaven and back just because its a 'classic'.

This new movie, however, was just bad. The special effects were the best part, but even then it wasnt anything great. The humor was like a slightly better SNL sketch(meaning there were very little funny parts that were actually funny as opposed to SNL which isnt funny at all)

Honestly, all the hate of this movie could have been completely avoided if the people marketing it just shut the fuck up. If they really wanted to do a remake starring all females, then all they should have done was announced the idea, released a trailer, and then release the movie. But nope, the marketing literally became "THIS MOVIE IS ABOUT GIRL POWER AND IF YOU DONT LIKE THE IDEA OF A SWAPPED GENDER REBOOT THAN YOU ARE A SEXIST BASEMENT DWELLER"

The cast, the media, they all made this a sexist thing. Of course faggots on the internet through a bitch fit about the gender swap, but the media could have easily ignored them and been the bigger man(or woman). This movie is schizophrenic, it can't decide if it's a comedy or action movie, and as result has two different and contradictory tones. The original was basically a comedy movie, with some action thrown in.

Kate McKinnon's character is obnoxious, and can be summed up as "quirky," or rather what Kate thinks is quirky. In fact, most characters were obnoxious. Wiig half-assed her role (because she knew the movie was going to be shit), and it feels like Leslie tried. In fact, Leslie's "acting" is about the only thing redeemable about the movie. She can't act worth shit, but the character didn't really need depth, so it played up what little strength there is. You can tell she was the only one that actually tried on set. Hemsworth was retarded, a literal walking joke that got old immediately.

The plot is basically that NYC and DHS are aware of the ghost problem, and shut the ghostbusters down because ???. Realistically speaking, if they knew of the ghost problem, why not add them to a contract? Their tech works, and is proven to work. They also have experience taking ghosts out. So why work with them one scene and then betray them the next scene when you still have a ghost problem? It makes no sense. Plausible deniability only goes so far, especially when the public is clearly aware that ghosts exist. In the first movie, Peck dismantles them because of personal reasons and being headstrong. The mayor's office in the reboot is malicious because the plot demands it and no other reason.

The movie just falls apart when you examine it deeper. The original is better, if only because it has a sound structure. The reboot is a mess, and that's why it failed in the box office. It's a bad movie, not just a terrible ghostbusters movie. It's unwatchable.

Running the math, it's double back on budget, so 144 budget, so 288 million to break even. So they spent 212 million on marketing and merchandising. Sony wasted $212 million on insulting people and buying out critics. And it flopped horribly, it only made 80% of what it was supposed to. It couldn't break even on budget alone, much less marketing.
