What scenes did the LotR films do better than the books?
>>79581520
the council of elrond is a lot cooler in the movie, they never really start arguing or anything, nor do they do the "and my bow, AND MY AX!" lines in the book, which are pure kino.

I like to think the ring was subtly goading the council into fighting each other, tearing them apart even when they don't directly want it like Borimir.
Minas Tirith
Ride of the Rohirrim
Council of Elrond
Grond
Last march of the ents

>subtly
>>79581520
all of the them, the books are overrated garabage
>>79581668
I thought pretty much every person who knew about the ring secretly wanted it to some degree, even guys like Gandalf were clearly tempted, that being said I think your theory about the ring goading them into fighting is basically canon

>movies:

they're the 7th greatest literary works of the 20th century you fucking pleb
>>79581520
You mean visually?
The design of Minas Tirith in the films was far better than I think anyone imagined it when reading the books.
>>79582754
kek. I don't think you understand just how descriptive Tolkien was.
Killing Saruman in his tower.
In the books it felt weird that Saruman took over the Shire, when Sauron was already beaten

>subtly
>BLACK SPEECH CHANTING THROUGHOUT SCENE
>>79582754
Movie Minas Tirith is way too small, It looks like it has a population of about 200 also
>no farmland

>no ent singing
We come, we come with roll of drum: ta-runda runda runda rom!
We come, we come with horn and drum: ta-rūna rūna rūna rom!
To Isengard! Though Isengard be ringed and barred with doors of stone;
Though Isengard be strong and hard, as cold as stone and bare as bone,
We go, we go, we go to war, to hew the stone and break the door;
For bole and bough are burning now, the furnace roars - we go to war!
To land of gloom with tramp of doom, with roll of drum, we come, we come;
To Isengard with doom we come!
With doom we come, with doom we come!

The one where Aragorn bravely cancels the potato tax
LOOKS LIKE MEATS BACK ON THE MENU BOYS
>>79584307

>>79581520
Moria
>>79584307

>ywn live in a comfy naismith painting
feels bad man, his fantasy stuff is so beautiful
>>79582830
now that I think of it, wouldn't living there be dumb as fuck? At any point a house-sized rock could break off the mountain and fall on your head
>>79584337
Watch the extended edition closely, in the scene which shows the caverns beneath Orthanc there are several restaurants, including a Little Caesar's.
>>79582141
No, with the text. What subtitles were better?
>>79581520
I hated how Frodo come across as a little bitch, especially in the first film, even though he basically said to Nazghul they can go fuck themselves in the first book.
>>79584969
this. He was the worst character adaption. He was really mature and more hero like in the book. Faramirs portrayal annoyed me too. He was not as weak willed/an ass in the books.
Gimlis character was also not like in the book, but atleast it was funny and fitting to the group dynamic
>>79585218
Indeed.
All of them since the movies don't spend 20 minutes describing a leaf.
The movies are still pretty terrible though.
