I love it for setting sandbox games in it because i can tweak sections of the world for my own game and if the players ever pick up and leave or follow some random path the rest of the world has various levels of it already fleshed out.

With that said, yes it is pretty generic fantasy but I don't see that as a bad thing. If you are looking for stock standard fantasy it's a good go-to.
