Manchester by the Sea.
Yes, I found it funnier than any comedy in recent years.
Inbetween all the heavy drama there are so many genuinely funny real little moments, also brilliant use of long takes for maximum /cringekino/ in some scenes.

I just wish it wasn't david schwimmer, even if he fits the character.

I find it hard to call In Bruges a black comedy, it's way too tragic and serious to be a comedy. Just because it has a few funny moments doesn't make it a comedy. It's still a really good movie but personally when your movie has the main character attempt to commit suicide because he can't live with the guilt of having accidentally murdered a child I can't see how the movie would want you to treat it as a comedy. Still recommend it, but don't expect to laugh much.
Seven Psychopaths on the other hand is from the same director and the comedy label suits it way better

Best dark comedy ever.
My vote is the TV series Brass Eye, The Day Today...
Basically anything related to Chris Morris.

Ss is just a comedy. Whereas in bruges is a dark comedy. The midget, fat Americans, alcoves, drug scene, quips, the crime boss' inane and comical dialogue. It's very dark but very funny and definitely qualifies as a dark comedy imo. Too much of it is purposefully silly and absurb

I'd argue that the comedic elements outweigh the depressing and tragic elements though, so many "dramatic" scenes are undercut or subverted by jokes. even at the end of the movie whenRay is in the ambulance he's still complaining in vo about fucking Bruges.
