No. Your employer sends info to the IRS that you filled out so the IRS can verify the info from your employer and the info you fill out on your return.
However, if your income is under a certain limit and meets other restrictions, you don't have to file the return. I don't know your income though and I can't remember every requirement and I'm too lazy to look them up for you.
I have to pay $11K this year...although last year was even worse with $17k.
