No, he felt bad about it. Mostly in the way that it left a negative mark on his character, but he still felt like he did wrong by the kid.

He cares about "his" child obviously, but he doesn't care about the spectacle of the confession. He doesn't want to show weakness, and he doesn't feel like Eli has any superiority over him. He sees Eli as a liar and a fraud. The outburst in the church is real, he does feel like he has abandoned HW. He can't stand being around him him however because he feels like he's partially responsible.

Eli was supposed to bless the well. A mad died and his child lost his hearing. These are bad omens. I don't think Daniel believes in God, but maybe deep down he does believe that if Eli did bless the well this could have been stopped.

He turns this self doubt into rage.
