No, but the concept of a humanoid character flying isn't inherently wrong.

Surely you can tell the difference between a Character and a Gold Statue in relation to the Story, right?

Changing Aragorn would be quite a jump as opposed to changing The Dwarves and their interactions (or lack thereof) with Smaug, especially when you're dealing with The Hobbit versus The Lord of the Rings.
