There comes a point where even the dumbest audience member gets tired of "no, THIS time it's really going to be important, this is the timeline/series of events that matters."

Salvation at least attempted to get around that by skipping to the future. Didn't work, but it was at least a little different.

Everyone looked really uninterested in being in this movie. Jai Courtney of course was a vacuum of charisma, but everyone else was phoning it in, too. I'm also very confident that if you asked everyone who saw this movie to accurately explain the plot, at least 50% of them would be unable to.
