The actor that played Malcolm actually had some pretty decent movie roles for a few years while the show was famous. After Malcolm ended, he retired a millionaire. Most of them probably did.

It's *very* hard for someone to break out the one tv show rut.... I'm sure the actor that played Malcolm could have (he had several big movie roles in the mid 90s), but he didn't want to. He just wanted to retire and enjoy life. Maybe he was a celeb that didn't enjoy fame.
