Who's the best?
>>
Everyone on there's a genius except Cosby and Hedberg.

Stephen Wright and Albert Brooks are criminally underrated.
>>
Carlin
>>
>>79378217
richard pryor
>>
Rodney

Anyone who says Hicks is a turbo pleb.
>>
on that list, Rodney. second place Eddie Murphy. largely a bunch of overrated hacks though
>>
>>79378217
It's

1. Pryor
2. Bruce (for some reason not pictured)
3. Kaufman
>>
>>79378217
Woody Allen
>>
>>79379755
>2. Bruce (for some reason not pictured)
He's between Carlin and Woody.
>>
Steven fucking Wright
>>
>>79378217

Pryor was great
Carlin was great, but preachy (smart too)
Bruce was fantastic
Allen is great if you can separate the comedy from the comedian
Martin is great
Dangerfield is great but a bit repetitive
Cosby is great if you can separate the comedy from the comedian
Murphy is great
Hicks was great, but preachy
Kinison is ok, but loud
Wright is great
Who?
Kaufman is a crazy person trying to squeeze pity laughs out of an awkward situation
Hedburg was great
Seinfeld is ok
Williams was incredible

>who?

Albert Brooks.

>>79379652
point proven
>>
Patrice O'Neal
>>
>>79378217
Honestly gotta go with Carlin, may not be the funniest overall but his career is untouchable, headliner supreme for like 30 years without needing a (hit) sitcom to sell tickets.
>>
>>79381681
He did some shitty movies though.
>>
>>79381723
Bill and Ted x2 plus Kevin Smith's shit, ya not great but not Pluto Nash or Bee Movie
>>
>>79381828
>not great but not Pluto Nash or Bee Movie
Good point.
>>
>>79378217
Lenny Bruce wasnt funny
>>
>>79381902
A lot of the stuff of his I've listened to is very dependent on understanding current events. Can anyone post some essential Lenny Bruce tracks?
>>
>>79378217
Does Kaufman qualify as a comedian? He started out in clubs but if he's a comedian than he's just as much a wrestler and shitty lounge singer
>>
>>79382034
Well, he's always funny. Even in his wrestling gig.

Eddie Murphy's standup is hugely underrated. This shit is so fucking funny every time I watch it, especially once he really gets rolling and does the entire drunk dad sketch.

>Eddie Murphy's standup is hugely underrated
Nah it's pretty widely regarded as some of the best ever.
>>
>>79382090
Eddie Murphy was funny as fuck but hugely derivative of Pryor.
>>
>>79382090
Delirious is stand-up Kino.
>>
>>79382138
He even says so in RAW, good bit

Sometimes I think about what could have been if he hadn't been so angry and bitter.

Kaufman was ahead of his time, it amazes me that more young people aren't into him.
>>
>>79381951
The Dustin Hoffman film isn't great, but it's a decent primer.

People need to understand that Lenny came before all of these dudes and was more of the Vaudeville tradition than modern stand up.

Personally I'd recomend starting with his book, 'How to Talk Dirty and Influence People'. It's fantastic.
>>
>>79382505
>Lenny was more of the Vaudeville tradition than modern stand up
Really? The stuff I've listened to made me think of late period Carlin.
>>
>>79382396
Oh man that one with "buddy" was one of the best bits I've ever seen.
>>
>>79382316
I think it's interesting how Bill Hicks is loved by fedora tipping atheists, but if you listen to his stuff, he's clearly very spiritual. He only hated organized religion.
