it's not even really sci-fi either. its just linguistics, it couldve been about meeting an uncontacted tribe in the amazon or something. the twist at the end has nothing to do with science either so it would work just as well.

literally the whole point of the movie is just "what if you could know the future but do nothing to change it?" which is incompatible with how reality works and has nothing to do with aliens and could have been set in any setting
