I completely get where all the hype is coming from, and I really really appreciated how unconventional it was. And I don't mean the woo crazy trippy whoa man stuff, but the way it's shot and made. And I was glad to see it, but all in all I found it to be boring and completely unengaging. I will check more movies by Nobuhiko Ôbayashi, the director. Pretty disappointed, expected a lot. Schoolgirls, haunted house, Japan, and all the hype.

it's an epochal Western that is a dividing line between standard Westerns and films that are commentaries on Westerns.

It's a shame you weren't able to comprehend its historical significance, but I guess that says a lot more about you than it does the film.

>I hate Hollywood
Where did you get that from what I posted. I probably love Hollywood more than anybody on this board. I carry the entire filmographies of D.W. Griffith, Cecil B. Demille, King Vidor, Josef von Sternberg, Erich von Stroheim, Slavko Vorkapich, Ernst Lubitsch, Frank Capra, Michael Curtiz, James Cruze, William S. Hart, Billy Wilder, Milton Katselas, Sam Wood, William Wyler, Victor Fleming, Raoul Walsh, John Huston, Howard Hawks, Robert Altman, and Paul Mazursky on my shelves.

Emma Stone is just an irrelevant actress that hasn't acted in much that is notable. If you want a real, waifu, try pic-related.

Why make a movie glorifying chasing your dreams in Hollywood in 2016? There are literally no stars anymore. The highest grossing movies of 2016 starred animated talking animals.

only 39 not including shorts and Over The Garden Wall is technically a miniseries but can be watched as a film?

I've been trying to find more films like Noroi: The Curse and have managed to find a jap horror k-hole on youtube, watching Tales of Terror from Tokyo Vol 1 right now which is an anthology of shorts that are apparently written directly from peoples supposed experiences

Leonard Maltin said the worst decade for movies was the 60's, probably for all the epics, musicals, spy movies, and romcoms.

But really, I love all of those, their writing, and the fun campy sexual undertones purveying a lot of those works. I definitely wouldn't truthfully say the 60's were the best or worst decade, but they're my favorite for American movies.

How do you feel?

Also, I really like the 0's because it feels like such a grandiose final hurrah for classic Hollywood with everyone firing on all cylinders, especially with the epics. Most people dislike Hello Dolly and Cleopatra, but they're 2 of my favorite movies. The amount of money on display with real locations, real people, real action is staggering.
