I completely get where all the hype is coming from, and I really really appreciated how unconventional it was. And I don't mean the woo crazy trippy whoa man stuff, but the way it's shot and made. And I was glad to see it, but all in all I found it to be boring and completely unengaging. I will check more movies by Nobuhiko Ôbayashi, the director. Pretty disappointed, expected a lot. But really, I love all of those, their writing, and the fun campy sexual undertones purveying a lot of those works. I definitely wouldn't truthfully say the 60's were the best or worst decade, but they're my favorite for American movies.

Also, I really like the 0's because it feels like such a grandiose final hurrah for classic Hollywood with everyone firing on all cylinders, especially with the epics. Most people dislike Hello Dolly and Cleopatra, but they're 2 of my favorite movies. The amount of money on display with real locations, real people, real action is staggering.
